Same as real life. Most people enjoy power washing their house/property in the spring and seeing how much cleaner it gets. I don't know a single person who enjoys mowing a lawn.

I do, I find it relaxing while listening to music. And it's somewhat decent exercise. I also don't mind shoveling snow. The only things I somewhat regularly power wash are my deck and driveway/walkway. I hate doing the driveway/walkway, that's a task I dread. I like the power wash game well enough though.

I also kind of like mowing, as well as power washing. Both times I have bluetooth hearing protection, so I can listen to music while safely muffling the noise. I'll try out the power washing simulator at some point, see what it's like.

If you purchased any video content from Discovery through the PS store, it will be removed on December 31. Licenses expired.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

That seems ass-backwards. In the past, even when licenses expired, people who bought digital titles were at least entitled to have it, even if no new users could buy it.

The only time I recall titles being pulled from peoples digital libraries was when those titles were illegally sold by a company that never had the right to sell them in the first place, and even then, the customers got full refunds.

As I've said in the VUDU thread, VUDU has changed the wording on their site. If you looked up a movie in your collection it used to say YOU OWN HDX. Now it says YOU HAVE HDX. I don't think that change is by accident.

Yep, things disappearing from your account will only grow as the owners of the content figure out ways to sell you the same digital content again and again. Look at all of use here going from VHS-Laserdisc-DVD-BD-4k. They know that physical is coming to an end and want that continuous money. Why I have a hard time buying digital versions of games for the same price.

Yeah, you don't "own" anything other than a license to view said titles as long as they are available on the service you purchased the license on.

If the movie is removed, then you lose.

Not entirely sure how it affects Movies Anywhere titles, if at all.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Mostly digital for me this gen. Maybe 90%, but for movies I'm still physical (I've redeemed plenty of codes but think I've only bought 1-2 purely digital movies). I always felt it would be too easy for companies to revoke access to your content.

I don't think gamers have much to worry about though. Backlash from gamers would be pretty fierce and hit companies in the wallet pretty hard. TV and movie content is too spread around from various services for any one group of people to make enough noise about.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Finally ordered a PS5 (a fat model bundled with Spider-Man 2). I was looking to get it a new SSD right from the start. A friend of mine recommended a 2TB
SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD
. However, I see that for $10 more I can get the
SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD
. I've looked online but have been left unsure whether to opt for the former or the latter. What do you guys think?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Not sure the exact differences but the latter one, you probably need to buy a separate heatsink for it if you install it on the PS5 which ups the cost slightly

edited to add: nvm, as stated below both come with a heatsink

I've got the 980 Pro back in July and just barely installed is a few weeks ago. It's been working great ever since. It came with a heatsink and I have had no issues whatsoever.

Here's a tech article explaining the differences between the 980 and 990... and it seems to be the read/write speeds that are slightly improved:

https://www.xda-developers.com/samsu...ro-vs-980-pro/

Good luck.

They both already have heatsinks attached.

When I added one to my PC, I opted for the 990 since it was faster and not that much more.

Ah, ok, some of the reviews said you needed a heatsink:
Amazon Amazon

but yeah now I see that in the description, so probably amazon aggregating reviews for different products again.

They lumped the variations into the same page again so it compiles all reviews into one rating. I hate when they do that, then you have to pay attention to the "item reviewed" part (and I think that label is there - but I don't pay attention to that).

Go for the 990 Pro (w/ heatsink)! You'll love it either way.

Thanks guys. Now I gotta wait a bit cos today Amazon bumped each by another $10, so right now the 980 is $139 and the 990 is $149.

Yeah, no rush. It will take you a little while to fill up the internal SSD.

I remember you mentioned this. Did you ever call Sony (800--345-SONY) and inquire as to why?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

PS5 newbie here

I feel like Joker's description of a dog chasing a car. I finally caught a PS5 on the Target $350 BF sale. But I have no idea what to do with it. Help this old man out. I'm a lifelong Nintendo diehard fan. Have also owned XBoxes up to the XBone. I did have a PS3 that I mainly used as a bluray player...and to play Flower and Sackboy. Honestly I don't think I'll have that much time to play it as I already have a pretty big backlog of games to get through. So I definitely have some specific questions and would appreciate any general advice.

Spiderman
Definitely interested in playing this series. Is it necessary to play SM and MM before getting in to SM2? Which version should I get. Or can I just skip them and get right in to SM2? Also what's the best way to get SM? I know a lot of PS4 games are backwards compatible but some come with free enhancements? and some you have to buy the PS5 version?

Ratchet and Clank
The latest game looks gorgeous and would definitely want to play this one eventually. Can I just jump into this last game?

GT7
Speaking of which, GT7 has a PS4 and a PS5 version. Which version do I buy? Also if GT7 is an older PS4 release is there an imminent GT8? Maybe I should just wait for that to come out.

God of War
Where can I jump in on this series? Seems pretty interesting but there have been so many games I don't necessarily want to start from the beginning.

The Last of Us
I guess there was just a remaster that was released for the PS5? Worth it to buy over the PS4 version? Why is there a part 1 and part 2?

PS+ membership
What are the differences between the different levels and which one do people recommend to get?

4K player
How is the PS5 as a media player. One of the reasons why I decided to go ahead and get it is I was close to buying a stand alone 4k player anyways. I've heard mixed things. I was about to pull the trigger on the Panasonic UB820.

Any other must play games?

Yep you can jump right in.

God of War 2018 is the ideal starting place for this. The games switched from Greek mythology (PS1 - PS3) to Norse mythology (PS4 and 5) and have a much stronger narrative focus. You don't miss much by jumping in here.

The Last of UsI guess there was just a remaster that was released for the PS5? Worth it to buy over the PS4 version? Why is there a part 1 and part 2?
I haven't personally played the remakes, but the original game is a PS3 title and a lot has changed technologically since then, so I'd probably give the remakes a go. Part I is a remake of Last of Us, Part II is the sequel (Last of Us 2).

Edit: to clarify, Last of Us Part I is a remake of The Last of Us. There's a remastered version of Last of Us Part II coming out next month for the PS5.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

You should look at getting Playstation Plus Extra tier that has all those games (except GT7) and more to play for free with membership.
Edit : GT7 is $29.99 at Best Buy today only, if you want to play that.

PS5 version is probably worth the extra cash.
part 2 is the sequel that came out on PS4. It performs very well on PS5 but a dedicated PS5 version is coming out next year.
These are, hands down, two of the best narrative games released on any console. Regardless of the versions you buy, both are phenomenal games.

I know this is a spicy take around these parts, but the lowest tier (Essential) has been made to be of little value for anyone who hasnít been subbed for years. The free games are sometimes big titles, sure, but I donít find myself compelled to play much that have been offered since the PS5 launch; sometimes because I already played them elsewhere, or sometimes because theyíre just genres I donít bother with anymore.
The second tier (Extra) seems to absolutely be worth the upgrade though, particularly if you can find a good deal. The value of Premium depends on what you want to play, but just know youíll have to stream legacy games to your console and if your internet has latency issues, that may be a useless feature.

4K player

itís more than sufficient albeit I find it a bit loud when the disc is spinning. You will NOT get Dolby Vision from any discs though. The same goes for Series X; they both have that limitation.

Any other must play games?
Ghost of Tsushima is one of my absolute favorites. Itís glorious on PS5, too.
I love the first Horizon game but barely touched the sequel.
My wife and kid loved Hogwarts Legacy.
Demons Souls & Returnal if you want a serious challenge I havenít played the latter but have an itch to dive into it over the holidays.

Finally, Alan Wake 2 is all the rage, and you donít really need to have played the first game (or Control, another game I adore) to get into it.
I do not understand the appeal of Baldurís Gate 3Ö but itís just a game thatís Not For Me.

Shit, and the A Plague Tale games. Amazing.
