Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I’m happy to dump 80-100 hours in a game if it’s actually enjoyable. But even in those cases, the ‘main quest’ is usually pretty short. I got through the main quest of Fallout NV in a matter of days, and maybe 10-20 hours of playtime for example, but then spent dozens upon dozens of hours on all the side quest content, plenty of which was arguably better than anything in the main story. I expect a longer main story in Bethesda’s newest game sure, but once again, it’s the side quests that will keep me playing for 100+ hours if it’s good.
but more generally, I always prefer the 15-30 hour games over the long ones. And I have zero interest in Games as a Service, where the game itself never ends. Had my fill of that with Animal Crossing in 2020. Unfortunately, it seems like more and more players are into those kinds of games instead of self-contained single player stories.

I typically play one long game, 60+ hrs, and then when completed go on a string of shorter games. Then I'll pick up another long game, so on and so forth.

You play as Meredith's Dad in it. It's coming out in November. Looks like it's only coming out on PC, but they hope to add it to other platforms too.

I've been a Plus subscriber for forever but I might be out. It's not even just the price increase, it's the brazenness of a fairly significant price increase with no reasoning or justification.

I want to play so badly that horror game that's a Playstation exclusive
I have FOMO with that game. If I had it I'd probably play minutes and move on (I have finished 3 games this year... if you call Picross finishing a game).

Those are some pretty big increases. Sony's been coasting for a generation and a half now. Is this their new PS3 moment?
Anyway, I've been thinking about the time sink recently because I've been playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands*. I tend to prefer 10-20 hour games, but certain ones like Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-man, Borderlands, or even Far Cry have the perfect balance. The core game and a chunk of side missions to have fun with fall into the 30-45 hour range but if you love the game/universe there enough to keep you in that world for dozens more hours with side missions and DLC. Point being 45 + extras that push you past 60 hours is an easier sell than a game that starts at 60-100 and only goes up from there. That's a huge commitment.
*I think I finished a couple weeks ago around the 45 hour mark. I thought I'd just get through the main game and move on but I'm loving that world, so with collectables, challenge levels and DLC I'm already over 80 and still have a ways to go before I'll be done. If someone would have told me before I started that it'd be an 80 hour game + extras, I'm not sure I would have started it.

It wasn't because of the time, it was because he went for a game with meh reviews after cancelling a game that's prob going to be #1 or #2 for the year.

That’s a huge jump in price. I’m not really happy about it and it seems Sony it’s getting cocky on their success in this generation.
Now it makes sense why they decided to stop revealing their subscribers number any longer.

I guess there's no longer a direct comparison to Xbox Gold. Sony is giving games with their base service, Xbox no longer is. I still don't like it. $70 should have been sufficient.

It's a $20 price increase on Essentials, which means I'll continue waiting for it to be on sale.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
The sale is going to be what the price used to be, if that. I am tempted to just extend online before the price change but it still just ticks me off so I'm still leaning towards dropping it and seeing if there's a Black Friday sale to tempt me.
