That did look stunning. If I played it, I know I’d puke.

Hey, am I the only PS5 player who plays the PS4 versions of most games on his PS5 that also have PS5 versions, because I have a TON of space on my external drive, but a pittance of space on the PS5 internal drive, so I'm keeping it clear for the eventual deluge of PS5-only games?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I keep most of the PS+ freebies I've downloaded over the years on an external. But any PS4 game I plan on playing, I move to internal. I added an extra M2 drive so I have more space. I would hate to see what loading times are like if you're playing a game off an external drive compared to NvME. I would never settle for a PS4 version of a game I paid for if there's a PS5 version available.

Unless there was a known issue with a PS5 version of a game, I would never settle for playing the PS4 version.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I've never once had a space issue on any modern console so I always play the PS5 version. When I finish a game I delete it and if I want to replay it I redownload it. Pretty simple and has worked just fine for me.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I have done A/B testing between the 4&5 versions of many games, and besides the quicker loading, I haven't noticed much of a difference.
FWIW, I don't have a 4K TV, just a lowly 1080p Panny plasma.

I know most of the gamers here don't play sports games. That's my preferred games. But, sports games eat up so much space on the PS5. NBA2K23 and Madden 23 eat up like 500+ gigs alone. And updates make the files even bigger. And those games aren't ones that I delete because you don't "complete" sports games as shooters, RPGs and such. Unless you upgrade to the next years version, then you delete them. MLB, NBA, NFL or even FIFA would basically fill up your entire internal drive. Zero flexibility to buy or add any more games for the internal drive.

Yeah, I currently have 2k23 on PS5 only because I bought another internal drive, otherwise I probably would have passed (and I have Madden on Xbox to spread it out). Despite them taking up less space on the switch it's a bigger problem on the switch because of the even more limited space. Having said that, the PS5 drives dropping in price is a boon even though it's still not cheap.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Yeah, I might just get a 2tb SSD internal-expansion soon, which will negate any issues as to PS5 storage for the foreseeable future. You can get a really good one with a heat-sink for around $150.

It's nice that you can just plug one into the provided space and have it work immediately without having to deal with transferring stuff over.

I cannot recommend more doing exactly that. I added a 1TB over a year ago and have always had plenty of space (but don't play sports games).

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Gee, it been over a week and I still have not recieved my PS5 from Amazon. I tried using the tracking number and it say my package may be lost but may still be delivered. I going to wait for one more week and if I don't receive it then I just going to cancelled my order. Very disappointed, anyone have problem getting it from Amazon?

I would definitely reach out to them now rather than waiting another week. It should be pretty easy to talk to a rep about the missing order from their website.

Ok, I chat with a rep from Amazon and had them refund my credit, said very sorry that I didn't get my PS5. I tried to re-order it again but couldn't find the option to order it again. I tried it tomorrow then.

Try ordering directly from Sony. That's how I got mine.

I don't know if you have a Best Buy nearby, but they have them available at Best Buy now. I bought mine at Best Buy back when they were really hard to find.

Did you use Amazon GCs to buy it? If so, I totally understand waiting for another opportunity.

But if you’re really itching, you can order it from Sony right now without jumping through any hoops (none that I can see, anyway): https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/hardware/ps5

Ok, I just place a order on Sony website and should received some 3-4 days. Thank for the link, Adam.

Geez, just a straight refund, no coupon or extra credit or anything? Did someone just steal it along the delivery chain or something?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

This might be overkill, but the prices have gotten so low, I went and got a 4TB SSD for my PS5.
I almost got a 2tb, but figured I'd regret that down the line, and the 4 should serve me well for the life of the console, which I feel has just started.

I got the Nextorage ssd, which seems to be made specifically for the PS5, and has gotten great reviews.

that's happened to me before with a TV we ordered for my FiL. they didn't look for it or seem upset/care. they clearly can tell when something has been stolen by UPS, they just look the other way and refund.
