A few VR demos have gone up on the PS store: Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Star Wars, Resident Evil 8, Song in the Smoke, NFL Pro Era, and Cosmonius High.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
The disparity between how it looks during setup (not great) and actually playing a game is kind of unreal. I can't get over how immersive the games I've played are, and I've already knocked over an end table lamp. I'm sure it's old hat for those of you better versed in VR, but it's funny how my brain fills in some of the gaps, feeling sensations on my arms even though there are obviously no haptics there.

Got mine! Unlikely I'll get to it today but I'm happy the day is finally here.

I was able to set mine up - which was a breeze. They eye tracking is amazing. Unfortunately my left controller needed to be charged so I haven't actually gamed yet - downloading a bunch of demos and Horizon right now. Gotta say, even the setup was immersive BUT, the cord sucks. It's just in the way. You feel it, it's just a nuisance. I get why it's there... but damn, it'd be so much better without it dangling.

How long is the headset cord? I've read about 15 ft, but don't know if that's true. Is that really enough, and do they make extension cords for these things?

That sounds about right... more than enough for my purposes but it's a USB-C male to the front of your PS5. I supposed you could easily add on to that but I have no idea of the fidelity of doing that.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I haven’t measured mine, but I only sit 6 or 7 feet from my PS5, so it’s fine for me. I haven’t found the wire intrusive, but I am mostly sitting so far. Reports are that USB extenders do work well under shorter distances, but if you’re adding on another 3 meters or whatever, the latency does start to be felt.

Yeah, after about 20 ft you run into issues with lag and video drops on other VR headsets.

Definitely a cool experience. I guess I was expecting it to be sharper looking? I don’t know. I also notice what i guess is “mura” alot.
No Man Sky is pretty crazy though as is Kayak VR. Gotta dive into Horizon.

watch the video I posted above... maybe setting the 120hz will help?

This is super immersive. Enough so that I need a break (from Horizon, and some Kayak). I highly recommend those of you with PSVR get Rez. It is insane with this headset.

Horizon is beautiful... I might need dramamine to continue playing it though. It can be very disorienting.

Why on earth do I want a PSVR when I already have an Oculus Rift and Quest 2 gathering dust? Gadget lust and FOMO kicking in big time. Lol
There are two apps that, if they were currently available on PSVR, I'd put the order in today: Half Life Alyx, and Google Earth. Frankly, just Google Earth would be enough. It's easily the most impressive use of VR I've ever encountered.

If anyone wanted that super expensive Dual Sense Edge wireless controller (the Sony equivalent of the Elite Wireless controller), it's now available at all retailers.
I'm hoping it will be the same for the PSVR 2, coming to other retailers in a month?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I needed to purchase a new controller last week due to my launch controller having terrible stick drift. So I spent a lot of time contemplating between the two. I loved the idea of being able to swap out a new stick on the Edge for just a $20 replacement one. But ultimately with the battery in the Edge having 33% less capacity than the already atrocious one in the Dualsense, that made it a no go for me. So I went with a Dualsense and paid $20 for the Best Buy protection plan so I have 2 years of peace of mind if this new one starts drifting.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I have to say that the Plus Extra tier has been well worth the money I invested in it last weekend. I'm enjoying so many of the smaller studio games that last between 2 and 5 hours. A bunch of those games I wouldn't have paid 15 plus for, but this service allows me to play and finish them. Some notables are: Last Day of June, Omno, Lost Word: Beyond the Page, The Gardens Between, and The Artful Escape. Some pretty good stories in those titles. It feels nice to actually start a game and see it all the way through. That is something that I haven't done in awhile with the bigger studio games, as they are becoming an arduous task due to their length while challenging my attention span.
There was a great deal on Extra ($15/year more than Essential) and Premium ($15/year more than Extra) Black Friday week. Hopefully that returns. I signed up for those tiers for the first time then. I've certainly gotten my money's worth from Extra. In just the last couple of months I've played from that tier Stray, Ghost of Tsushima, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. There are more than a dozen more games available that I want to play but haven't downloaded yet. And I see just this week 2 new games I was interested in joined the Extra tier: The Quarry and Horizon Forbidden West.
It's early, but I haven't done anything with the Premium tier games yet. The older catalog games I'm most interested in are things I already have. And "timed trials" don't appeal to me. Didn't games used to make demos available for free without having to be part of a subscription service?
