I have an external storage hard drive hooked up to my PS5, so I can use that to store my PS4 games whether it's disc or digital, so I'm not seeing much of a reason to keep it.

I gave it away to a friend (for her children). If I didn't do that, I would've used the coupon that came with the PS5 and sold to Game Spot (I know wouldn't have gotten the most money, but would've been easiest). This was last summer. Unlike the PS3 to PS4 switch, I don't see anything I could have done with the PS4 that I can't do (and probably do better) with the PS5.

I still have my PS3 to play PS2 games (though it's not currently hooked up), my PS4 in the living room and the PS5 in the spare room. My living room "only" has a non 4k tv because it's a 3d tv and it won't fit anywhere else (plus it's under constant use), my spare room has a small 4k tv so that's where all the next gen stuff is hooked up.

I sold my PS4 shortly after setting up my PS5.

The other night we were trying to Invite to A Game thru dashboard since the in-game feature wasn't showing or working.....when you try to invite, there's those tabs under or over someone's name and one says...Invite....you hit it and a larger tab pops up showing....Your PS5 Multiplayer Games...... we cannot find out how that list is comprised and if you can change or modify it. Because with me, that list shows some games I haven't played in I don't know when yet doesn't show games I have played and does have MP/coop.

Do you have an independent game store near you? Maybe they’ll accept it. For example there’s one near me that was selling a “portable” PS5 with a working clamshell screen attached to the unit, so some may buy it if they can test it out.

I have a non smart tv in the bedroom so the PS4 is my streaming device there. Also got gaming use when I was locked away with Covid Jan. last year.

Almost time for the VR2. Really need to decide whether to keep or cancel my preorder. Thoughts? Anyone definitely in or definitely out? Just can't decide...

Like the first one I think I'm waiting for a price drop/deal, looks great but it's a chunk of change and I don't really have FOMO with this.

Definitely out. As an owner of Quest's 1 and 2, I can't get behind a wired VR headset.

I have hundreds in Game Stop credit earmarked for this. But can't order it yet. I'll get it when available.
But if I'm honest I barely touch the Quest 2 I have. I can certainly wait.

That's my hangup as well. After going cable free it's just hard to imagine going back.

I'm definitely in -- it'll be my first VR headset! -- but I wouldn't look down on anyone who backed out. There is definitely a part of me that worries this could wind up in a closet, caked in dust a few months from now. (Not unlike the mighty Mario Kart Live, which, neat though it is, I think I've played twice.)

As far as graphical fidelity and bells and whistles go, there's nothing comparable in its class. (Yeah, wires are a dealbreaker for many, which...sure, but what you gain -- eye-tracking, foveated rendering, an absurd amount of graphical horsepower -- by most accounts seem to be well-worth it. The Quest 3 won't have eye-tracking, and it being enabled on the Quest Pro is such a battery drain that the headset is dead in an hour.) I'm not really sure what to expect from Sony as far as long-term support goes, especially with this awfully soft launch and borderline-zero marketing behind it. But I'm hopeful for strong third-party/indie support, just like we saw with the original PSVR, and the metric ton of games available at/near launch (around 150 so far?) don't leave me feeling like I'll be at a loss for content. My guess is that VR-oriented AAA-style games from Sony will be sparse, but there'll be VR support or "experiences" for at least a fair few of their titles, where it's more of a bonus or an option rather than the driving force.

Gran Turismo 7 and Kayak VR: Mirage are the only confirmed launch games we either own or have preordered over here. I'm very tempted by Tentacular and Garden of the Sea, and while I was waiting to see if there'll be a physical release of Horizon: Call of the Mountain (not at launch, but maybe shortly thereafter?), chances are I'll wind up biting the bullet. Moss Books 1 & 2 and What the Bat are also strong contenders. I don't want to go too nuts on day one, though, so we'll see...

I'm hopeful they'll add in support for 3D Blu-ray discs at some point, just like they did (eventually) with the PSVR, but I don't believe any media functionality whatsoever has been discussed. Reviews are rumored to drop Wednesday or Thursday, so hopefully we'll hear something then.

I’m in as well, and have the same potential questions about whether I’ll play months from now. But it’ll be fun to play and I understand the need for it being wired.

Thinking about it from another perspective, I already have the $500 PS5, and the $100 pulse headset. Why not buy this tech that will utilize all of that hardware? For $500 I now essentially have a $1100 VR device. At least that’s what I tell myself to justify the cost.

For those of you that have bought the Samsung 980 Pro SSD for your PS5... have you updated the firmware? This "goes into read only mode" is concerning but I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea how to update an SSD.

I was an early adopter of PSVR and Quest. And the Quest ended up being something I used (and still use) regularly while the PSVR is a dust collector. The much better processing hardware ended up not counting as much as I thought it would compared to ease of use. All the extra wires, and the setup of the camera detecting those light-stick controllers was awkward (not to mention the reduced freedom of movement being wired). The headset itself was noticeably less comfortable.

PSVR2 does sound like it improves on some major things. No more separate camera, and the controllers look closer to what I like about the Quest (and hopefully they perform smoothly, unlike the old light sticks). More resolution in the eyes (while 4K resolution can be hard to see on a tv sitting at a normal viewing distance, when the screen is right in front of your eyeballs it's huge). Still tethered, but the wiring is simpler (connect right to PS, not through an intermediate box like PSVR). Headset is supposed to more comfortable.

I don't know. I know for sure I'm getting Quest 3 as soon as it drops later on this year (sounds like October, if the last two releases are anything to go by). I'll need to wait and hear more about PSVR2. If they let 3D movies work with the PS5 that would massively increase my interest. My new tv (like pretty much all new tvs) isn't 3D compatible, and I have a bunch of 3D Blu Rays. Although the resolution didn't let 3D movies look good to me on PSVR ... but PSVR2 should be much better.

The PS5 is in stock on Amazon and has been for an hour and a half or so. No forced bundles, no hoops to jump through. I think this might be a first?

Finally after what 2+ years of going through hoops. I was glad I was able to get mine last summer.

I like hoops. Especially when it comes with God of War: Ragnarok. 😜

You need a computer with an open NvME slot and Samsung Magician software. Not too difficult.

Most of the reviews I have seen are that is is very good, but also sort of meh at the same time. Screen is great, single wire is fantastic but also gets in the way, the earbuds are uncomfortable for long periods. I think I am going to wait. I just don't play enough games to justify the crazy price.
