Yeah the controller battery life is abysmal, but it's a minor nuisance overall, just have a USB c charger ready.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I usually play only a couple hours at a time and then I hook up to the charging cable. So, no worries there. But, thanks.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Do most people stick with the standard white controller or mix it up with some other color? I would think the white would get dirty fast. With hand sweat and all that. I just want something different than my black Xbox pro. The white would do that, but I don’t want a dirty controller. Do they show signs of use fast or they made pretty good to remain stain/smudge free? I do like the purple one, but I think it’s a little ludicrous if the white is perfectly fine.

My white controller has stayed pretty clean. I also bought a black PS5 controller (it's still in the box, I haven't used it yet) and I actually use a PS4 controller when I play PS4 games on PS5, because the battery lasts longer. You have to use the PS5 controller to play PS5. You can choose to use either a PS4 or PS5 controller for PS4 games.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Yeah, I figured it would be pretty sweat resistant. I’ll probably just go with the white controller.

How come you haven’t used the black controller? What’s point of having then?

I bought it for a backup since there's been reports of the original PS5 controllers starting to drift, but my original white controller hasn't started to drift. I believe they've fixed the problem in the newer controllers.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I bought a Galactic Purple controller and matching Galactic Purple plates for the PS5.
Did I need them? Absolutely not.
Did I buy them anyways? Sure did.

In other news, I got my plates from Sony Direct and now have the first Galactic Purple PS5 in my neighborhood. Yeah it's hidden in a media cabinet and never even seen, but it looks pretty good.

Yeah, I never understood that complaint either. And I certainly don't get why anyone would prefer the Xbox interface over it.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I liked the older Xbox interface better - it was simple and to the point. They've overcomplicated it. Now the PS interface is cleaner, it's odd.

I don't like the interface, it took me five minutes the first time to find the power off icon (it's at the bottom row of icons).

Evangelion inspired? It looks incredible.

In more boring news, PSVR2 preorders are live via PS Direct. Apparently there won't be preorders anywhere else in the US until launch. My intention was to use a stockpile of Amazon gift cards to cover the cost, but...whatever, I decided to just go for it.

I registered on the link before, is there more that I can do today? I'm still only seeing register on the VR2 page.

I'm not sure why I got this -- I didn't do any of the pre-registration/invitation requests -- but I got an email yesterday saying "PlayStation | Congratulations, youíve been selected!" with an 'Access Event' button that took me directly to order. The 'Access Event' link says it wasn't active until 11 AM ET, even though it let me order before that.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I'd set it up and play some tonight. You get Astro's Playroom for free and that's a good introduction to the controller. I would definitely recommend playing it first.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Ok, I will try first, but I need to set it up when all my stuff comes in, which should be tomorrow. I’m just anal. Perhaps Thursday night, but I can wait anxiously. Believe me if I was working from home tomorrow, then absolutely. But, it has to be perfect and set up in one fell swoop when I got more energy.

What all did you buy besides the system? I know you said you're ocd, but all you have to do is plug in it and turn it on.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I want to get the HDMI extender, longer micro B cable, want to hide the wires as best as possible, etc. Just want to spend the time and set it up perfectly, how I want.

Ok. When I finally got my PS5, I set it up as soon as I got home with it and started playing. I also spent months trying to find one though.

Believe me, it’s not that I don’t fucking want to right now. I want it up and running and trying this Astro and then GoW, but my ocd and brain are telling me another time.
