Like last time I guess I'm not going to be an early adopter for this.

I think you mean the latter.

That's pricey but I have a lot of Game Stop credit and might as well use it. Glad I didn't buy a Steam Deck because I can't justify buying both.

I don't think there's an official answer yet, but my guess would be no official support at launch, with unofficial support probably following pretty quickly, similar to what we saw with the original PSVR.

But maybe I'm being pessimistic. Part of me thinks Sony wouldn't deliver a rather high-end headset with so many bleeding edge features at a comparatively low price (vs. dedicated PC VR headsets) -- presumably subsidizing the cost to some extent -- while still letting people go to town outside of the PS ecosystem. At the same time, they're supposedly having 2 million of these suckers ready for launch. It took them around 14 months to sell 2 million PSVR1s, and it only sits at around 5 million since launch. Sony's most recent numbers are 25 million PS5s shipped, so 2 million PSVR2s on day one -- assuming the reports are true! -- seems insanely ambitious: approaching a double-digit attach rate, which the original PSVR was never able to do.

So maybe there will be PC support too to justify manufacturing so many, or maybe Sony thinks there's an enormous amount of hunger for VR on the PS5.

I wonder if I'm actually excited for it or if I've just convinced myself I'm excited. Part of me really wants to snap one up the instant they're available, despite never having owned a VR headset, rarely having even used one, and recognizing this is something that'll likely burn brightly and die out quickly for me. I know it doesn't make sense to be an early adopter, but I want one.

I'm guessing those headsets are going to be in demand because of scalpers.

Maybe if supply is a major problem, or maybe because of Xmas. Otherwise I'm not sure how much demand there is at that pricepoint let alone what a scalper would need to make a profit.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I don't have much of a desire for a VR headset. I think it would give me a headache. I'm fine with just playing regular non-vr games.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Are people still having to pay over MSRP for a PS5 these days? It doesn't seem like they are readily available anywhere yet. I imagine there will be some kind of bundle deal for thanksgiving, but will be extremely limited and not worth trying to get unless you camp out for days?

God of War console bundles are dropping in 2 days. If you want one, I would be online tomorrow night around MN ET and you will probably be able to get one.

If you have a PSN account, they're available directly from Sony right now. Not a bundle either; just the regular console. Been up for at least an hour.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I'll post my usual Amazon reminder, go to the listing and put it on your wishlist. Then, when you get the notice that they're in stock buy it via your wishlist. The transaction is supposedly more likely to go through. That's how we got ours a while back.

Are these even available easily? On Amazon? Are there 2 systems, like digital only? Can I go that route and buy everything digitally? I hate the fact I’ll have to get an hdmi switch and finding another place to put system and plug in, but it is so enticing. Especially, now that I have the time and means…

People are having a much easier time finding them now than last year. You can buy a digital only PS5. You don't have to have PlayStation Plus unless you want to play online and get free games every month.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I think I just want the barebones digital edition. Do they come in different storage amounts? Does it take external storage too? If Amazon is invitation only, do people actually get one that way?
