Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

PSVR2 impressions are up and extremely positive. I’ve been stockpiling Amazon GCs in anticipation — my first VR headset! — and hopefully I’ll actually be able to get one.

Beats me but those tiles must get clicks otherwise they'd go a different route.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Has anyone played Kingdom Come: Deliverance? The royal edition is on sale for $5.99 at the PlayStation store and I'm considering purchasing it. I searched for a thread on it, but I couldn't find one.

Not terribly surprising, but Sony did confirm that the PSVR2 would not be compatible with PSVR1 games.

Then they just confirmed that I will not be buying one for awhile. I was looking forward to getting this and playing some of my VR games from the 1 again on a better system, but that is obviously not the case.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Yeah I am totally baffled why those games wouldn’t be playable in a PSVR2. They might not be the system selling showcase but they should still be able to work, right?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Entirely different camera/movement tracking tech. Developers would probably have to release a patch in order to make them compatible, and the popularity/demand likely isn't there for that. Maybe a PS5/PSVR2 version of each title is in the pipeline for $10 above the coat of the original PS4/PSVR1 version.

I'm sure many titles will be patched with support for it. But yeah it's a very different setup than PSVR

This PS5 game is apparently being discontinued. And servers are being shut off too.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Finally picked up a digital PS5 yesterday. I'm in the club! I also got the official Sony headphones and those are great. I have never gamed with nice headphones before and it was a huge difference. Now bring on Gotham Knights!

I was annoyed for a minute there that my old, old Best Buy preorder was canceled, since it had the 20% discount from the GCU days. But I eventually realized that I dodged a bullet.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I had both the Oculus Quest and the PSVR, and I found myself greatly preferring the Quest (despite the inferior processor). The PS4 system with the separate camera and the awkward glow stick controllers just never felt comfortable to me (and the detection and responsiveness was erratic). The headwear didn't feel as good too me either. Despite being better at screening out light, it came at the expense of being uncomfortable to me. I could only handle a few minutes of gaming at a time, after which my face would feel all sweaty and itchy. I still use the Oculus regularly but its been a while since I used the PSVR.

That said ... I may be wasting my money again, but I'm interested in the PSVR2. Sounds like it fixes some key problems. While it may not be as big a need to regular gaming, I think 4K output is huge for VR. All the resolution you can get is needed when the image is right in front your eyes. It's still wired, but sounds a simpler setup than PSVR. If the PS5 can do it, and if the headset is more comfortable, this can be a way to view 3D movies too.

Sucks a bit that it isn't backwards compatible with PSVR PS4 games (when other PS4 games can play). But I didn't buy too many of them.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

All of the videos I've seen so far look great, but I don't think I'm buying this one at launch, like the first one. I picked up a Quest 2 last Christmas, and really enjoy the wireless connectivity/controllers. I own 12 games for the PSVR, and whatever was free from PS+ so I am disappointed by the backwards compatibility stance. Pricing is a factor also. I'm guessing they wouldn't do more than $499.99, but who knows?

Since both GTA5 And RDR2 have a first person mode, I wonder if there will be a port of the games to VR2?

Never click those links. Just clickbait and wrong most of the time. Sometimes the games leak from a European ad. But that link was pure speculation.

I've been itching to upgrade to 4K for a while and kind of had "I'll do it when I get a PS5" in my mind. I'll want something at least as big as what I have and know the cheaper brands/models are under $1000. Though what I'm really thinking about is spending more for a nice OLED. It doesn't have to be right now, but before the end of the year. I can wait until a good time for deals. Would that be Black Friday week (or are 4K tvs something that gets Labor Day sales too)?

I know that's a couple inches smaller than your current display, but if you want to go a little bigger and don't mind a refurb, you can get a 77" Sony XR77A80CJ from BuyDig for $2K. The same display new is $2500 at Costco.

Saw big price drops on the LG C2 OLEDs today, so I thought I'd mention it in response to this post
BuyDig 65" LG OLED C2 for $1796.99 plus 4 year warranty and $175 Visa gift card

It goes without saying, I already own all three of these games. That said, they’re all really good games, so nice haul for those who don’t!
