So like I said there is a possibility that people might be better off with unredeemed PS Now codes than if they had redeemed multiple ones ahead of time, right?

And for my own clarification, Dan, Seeing what I currently have active (as posted above), I am in-line to get PlayStation Plus Premium through June 2026?

Yeah, sorry. I forgot to reply to that part. The scenario would have to be that they had many years of PS+ stacked, but a shorter time of PSNow stacked. If they had redeemed those codes, they'd still be grandfathered into the longer of the two (PS+), so redeeming those codes early wouldn't have done much good. However, If their PSNow sub was already the same as the PS+ sub expiry, then redeeming those codes before the switchover would be better, because they'd have added a full 12 months for each code instead of 183 days for each code.
Not sure if that all makes sense... but I do agree that there's a scenario where holding onto them could be better, as long as they have more than 1 day of PSNow when the switchover happens, they'll be grandfathered into PS+ Premium at the full length of their existing PS+ sub, then can redeem each PSNow card for 183 days on top of that.

And for my own clarification, Dan, Seeing what I currently have active (as posted above), I am in-line to get PlayStation Plus Premium through June 2026?
Yes, exactly. If it goes as they say it will from the FAQ, you'll have Premium until June 2026.

I'm so confused. I need to find one of those "in plain language" articles about all of this.

Those on Both PS Plus and PS Now Will Get Premium Upgrade Equal to Their Longest Subscription

Pretty neat for those who still have both.

Posted: 27 Apr 2022 9:44 amPlayStation users who currently have both a PS Now and PS Plus membership will be getting upgraded to the new PlayStation Plus Premium Tier when it launches this year. The length of the upgrade will be equal to the longest subscription owned.

As reported by PushSquare, this means if you've got both subscriptions, and you've stacked your PS Plus for a number of years, you're going to end up with a seemingly good deal.

This was confirmed within a new PS Plus FAQ section which states: "If you are subscribed to both services [PS Now, PS Plus] when the new PlayStation Plus launches, you will be migrated into the PlayStation Plus Premium membership plan and you will have a new single payment date based on the longer of your two subscriptions."
So, for example, if you have PS Now subscribed up until August 2022 and an active PS Plus membership until September 2025 - that means you’ll be upgraded to PS Plus premium until September 2025 (or vice versa).
It was also previously confirmed that anyone with a PS Now subscription would be upgraded to PS Plus Premium at no extra cost, with a 1:1 conversion ratio on any subscription time you had left.

It wasn't long before PlayStation users quickly began to take advantage of this, stacking PS Now subscriptions for several years in order to get the most out of the conversion. But, this loophole was quickly shut down.

PS Plus Premium is the highest tier in the revamp of the PlayStation subscription service, and aims to have more than 700 games for streaming or download (including streaming on PC). It will launch in the US and Europe in June, with an earlier launch in Asia (excluding Japan) in May.

Game demos are also going to be a big part of PS Plus Premium, with developers now reportedly required to create timed game demos for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.

Update: Sony has seemingly disabled the ability to redeem PlayStation Plus codes from third-party retailers, or via the PlayStation Store. It is now believed by some in the PlayStation community that Sony has blocked this to prevent users from further taking advantage of making any savings on the revamped PlayStation Plus service. Sony has offered no official word, so IGN has reached out for comment.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Here's my email from Sony about the new service :

Start playing from June 13

Decker01, there’s not long to go until all the new features of PlayStation Plus are yours to enjoy!

Get up to speed on all the latest details and local pricing here.

From June 13, you’ll have access to a catalogue of up to 400* of the most enjoyable PS4 and PS5 games, including:
• Death Stranding
• God of War
• Mortal Kombat 11
• Returnal
• Marvel’s Spider-Man
• Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
• And many more to be announced

Please note that new games will be added to the Game Catalogue every month while others may leave the service.

You’ll also be able to play up to 340* additional games, including:
• PS3 games available via cloud streaming.
• A catalogue of beloved classic games available in both streaming and download options from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations.
• You can stream games using PS4 and PS5 consoles, and PC.**

All of these games will be available along with your current PlayStation Plus benefits, including:
• Monthly downloadable games
• Exclusive discounts on PlayStation Store
• Cloud storage for saved games
• Online multiplayer access

You’ll also have access to time-limited game trials for select games, so you can try before you buy on PlayStation Store.

What this means for you
You don’t need to do anything. As a current member of both services, we’ll automatically migrate you to a single subscription plan in the new, improved PlayStation Plus service – with a single recurring payment date and price – unless one or both of your memberships expire before the new service launches.

Rest assured that:

• Your membership will include ALL the same great PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now benefits you enjoy today. From monthly games and online multiplayer to the catalogue of hundreds of titles with streaming and download access, all the good stuff is staying.

• The cost of your membership will not increase when the new service launches***, unless you choose to make any changes to your subscription plan.

• When the new service launches, you will pay one recurring subscription fee, instead of two. The payment date will be based on whichever of your subscriptions has the later payment date

I'm glad this service exists, but I have very little desire to go back and play the "classics" as they are called.

Maybe some PS3 titles like the Ratchet and Clank series still hold up.

I would consider purchasing it for at least a few months if they put up the entire Resistance series.

I don't think it's misleading. It's bundled with Playstation Plus Deluxe and not with Game Pass Ultimate

We'll see but doesn't really grab me initially. Most of those games I either have or don't care about.

Also a bunch of them that have been free (at least so far) in the PS Plus Collection on PS5.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Update on Tchia:

Hey everyone,

A quick update on Tchia‘s development:

We are overwhelmed by how far this project, inspired by a tiny island we call home, has brought us. After three years of passion and hard work, we owe it to ourselves and everyone who has been supportive to deliver the best game we possibly can.

To that end, we have decided to move our release window to early 2023. This extra time will allow us to really polish every aspect of the game and flesh out all the little details that we know will make Tchia a really special experience.

Thank you again for your support. We have a lot of exciting things to show on the road to launch, so stay tuned!

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The whole "if you have five years stacked you have to upgrade all five years" thing seems dumb but reasonable. The "oh you got this sub at a discount, I'm going to raise your upgrade fee by the same amount as the discount you got" seems malicious, especially because it took some work to even calculate that out.

Yeah Sony did an absolute shit job handling this (and even creating the tiers TBH). It is confusing as hell.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I can kind of understand requiring a full account for an upgrade done to match the length of the current subscription. It would probably be difficult to allow someone with a standard subscription to 2026 upgrade to another tier for a few months or just a year, and then revert back to the lower tier. If it wasn't fully explained earlier though, that's a problem.

The case of wiping out discounts previously obtained through the PS store is crazy. That I don't understand in any way.

I don't get why they can't just directly convert 6 years of PS Plus to 3 years of Ultimate (or maybe they can?).

I mean the alternative would have been give them the higher tier, at their discounted price, and then when it auto-renews at the higher price everyone cries about being auto-overcharged by greedy Sony.

People who get subs on discounts should expect that, though. That alternative seems fine to me, rather than calculating your previous discount and charging extra for an upgrade.
