I donít really care what it looks like since I largely wonít ever look at it it once it goes in a slot in a usually dark room. Even so, this is not a good looking console horizontal, IMO.

The binder one is strong. The others are pretty weak.

Why do I keep seeing this $800 price point all over social media when Sony hasnít stated MSRP yet?

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The fact they went with an 850GB drive and not a 2TB, like most were expecting, indicates (at least to me) that they're trying to keep the cost low. $800 isn't a remote possibility unless Sony is intentionally trying to sink the Playstation brand.

More than likely just some console warriors trying to generate some negative press.

No idea as to the accuracy of the size of the thing, but people are making estimates based on the size of the disc slot.

It... looks to be very tall, boys.

Why do people keep asking about the size of the hard drive and the load times? All of that stuff was talked about during the Mark Cerny presentation months ago, for what was supposed to be the Developer's Conference.

I wish it wasn't white. That's going to be hard to keep clean. I usually dust my electronics once a week and they look fine. With this, it's going to need dusting three or four times a week.

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The size of the hard drive is no concern to me as those come and go and can be interchangeable along with a USB External like I use now. I just move the most played games to my Seagate Hybride and leave the others on my WD External 4TB. Don't forget Sony has and said the PS5 will have an expansion bay for an off-the-shelf M.2 NVMe SSD that will need to be certified. The 850gb drive size has been known for awhile but it's performance...or assumed one based on stats and all...has been praised from all over.

^^ But unless you go SSD, which is expensive, aren't you shortchanging the load capabilities the PS5 brings to the table?

I clearly need to finish Spiderman because having Miles as the lead is a huge spoiler for me lol... but it makes sense as you need a new character to "learn" how to be Spiderman all over again.

Is it a spoiler (I also haven't finished the 1st)? I just assumed this one was based in the world of Spiderverse and was a separate story.

Yeah, it seems like you are going to have to pick 3-5 games that are going to be loaded onto your console at one time. This also depends on how much space the OS system takes up and how much is reserved. This doesn't even account for screenshots and videos that one might want to save. I have to say a big no to the digital only model. Downloading 100 gig games is a cap and bandwidth killer. A 50 or 100 dollar discount isn't enough for me to go without a drive. A drive that I can also use to play movies, which should have been a part of the Pro in the first place. Discount digital copies by 10 bucks and you get closer to making it worthwhile.

As far as the system being white, the Xbox One S is white and I actually have to wipe it off less than my Pro. Not sure why but that is the truth.

Thereís also the possibility that itís a Second Son / First Light situation. Same map, different protagonist, smaller scale. I have no idea if thatís the case, but I got that sense during the trailer for whatever reason.

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

There's something else that caught my eye and has been talked about...you will not be able to play PS5 Games thru a external USB Drive. You can store them on it but not play; only will be able to play the PS4 Games off of it. As it stands now though if you're using a External USB Drive with the PS4, you'll be able to take it and plug into the PS5 and play Only Play PS4 Games.

I still want to know and see how you'll be able to add/swap the M.2 NMVe SSD as they're saying there's a slot for it. Are they say an additional slot or just one to swap with that specialized 850gb SSD Drive which currently is faster than the ones available for PC. Because if there's an additional slot for adding another NMVe Drive...that's a huge game changer. But who would want to change out the one that will come with it based on the stats we know?

NM...UPDATE...I found the answer and yes it will have an additional SSD Slot for adding another NMVe Drive.....that's a huge plus....

Turns out itís an expansion of the original game, not a sequel. I posted the details in the Spider-Man game thread.

Wasn't there something about no current drives were fast enough (or they were just coming out right now)? Obviously a lot will change by launch but these things are going to be super expensive for a while, I think.

edited to add:
found a link. Oh great there's no standard size either. Sony will obviously validate which drives can be used but man I hope that original drive lasts me at least a few years before I need to expand:

The PS5 looks like a nice piece of tech gadget art.

I won't be getting one at launch, and will most likely wait until there is a price drop with a PS5 Slim in black.

Nope. Full fledged new game:

@jasonschreier: NEWS: Spider-Man Miles Morales is *not* an expansion or enhancement or remaster, despite a Sony executive's comments this morning, a source tells Bloomberg News. Nor is it Spider-Man 2. It is a brand-new, standalone game similar in scope to Uncharted Lost Legacy.

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I might be pre-ordering the PS5 after all. I'm not sure if I like the the white sleek look but I think is better than the current PS4 design.

I'm really excited for the new Ratchet and Clank game along with the sequel to Horizon Dawn. I'll wait to see about the Spider-Man Miles Morales game, whether it's an expansion or not. I'm not ready to pay the full price for an expansion even thought I loved the first game.

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The PS5 games reveal definitely impressed me more than the Series X reveal, which really solidified the decision I was already leaning heavily towards. Sony has won my goodwill, they've had the best console every generation since the PSX.

There were a bunch of new IPs, some looked more interesting than others, but it shows me that Sony isn't just resting on their laurels. Hope they continue to push forward with new content.

I'm on the fence about pre-ordering. Exclusive titles at launch will drive that decision more than price.

I liked Spider-Man quite a bit, and a full fledged sequel would've definitely justified a day one purchase, but not this Miles Morales half step. Horizon and R&C release dates are still TBD. I don't remember what other games were Holiday 2020 releases, but if any of them are launching on PC at the same time, that's where I'll be playing them.
