5 minutes is better than the 20 seconds it used to be.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I saw this story about where they got their hands on the new model from japan...CFI-11....and decided to tear it down and find out just why it's lighter...

They reduced the number of fins on the Fan...side-by-side shot of the fans; New One and Launch Model
The Heat Sink had some stuff taken out and went from Cooper to Aluminum....there is a side-by-side comparison of the Launch Model and the New One...you can see the difference fairly well.
Something about the WiFi Antena location or something like that....

The first hardware revision of the PS5 looks like a step backwards | TechSpot

I literally bought Overcooked 2 AYCE for PS5 less than a month ago with the Best Buy 10 for $10 promotion. Thankfully I never opened it and it's still returnable. Whew.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The next PlayStation Showcase is on Thursday, September 9th.

You’ve been awfully patient, and we thank you for that. And now we’re looking forward to showing you what we’ve been working on.Tune in next Thursday, September 9 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 9:00pm BST / 10:00pm CEST for a look into the future of PS5. The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.

One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us!

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Crap, my PS4 disc drive no longer working so I have to go digital for now. Good news they're cheap, Borderlands 3 which I played often is only $20. Be nice I got a PS5 now but that not going to happen right away.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Good news for future cross-gen releases (although free would be better!):

Thursday was to be a celebration of Horizon Forbidden West and the amazing team at Guerrilla working to deliver it on February 18, 2022. However, it's abundantly clear that the offerings we confirmed in our pre-order kickoff missed the mark.

Last year we made a commitment to deliver free upgrades for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Horizon Forbidden West. While the pandemic's profound impact pushed Forbidden West out of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will stand by our offer: Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

I also want to confirm today that moving forward, PlayStation first-party exclusive cross-gen titles (newly releasing on PS4 & PS5)–both digital and physical*–will offer a $10 USD digital upgrade option from PS4 to PS5. This will apply to the next God of War and Gran Turismo 7, and any other exclusive cross-gen PS4 & PS5 title published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

I started Ratchet and clank (2016) last night. I know it's not the new one but damn those graphics really pop on my 4k OLED

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

So why would anyone spend 10 bucks extra for the PS5 version of Horizon?

Same reason why you would spend $10 to upgrade any game from last gen to current gen including at initial purchase of new games.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

If there is a difference in price between the 4 and 5 versions, the 10 dollar charge is understandable. If both versions are the same cost then the upgrade should be free. That is unless the upgrade comes later like Tony Hawk and then they can decide how to approach that.

I wonder if they’ll back off the price.

The situation with Horizon is different than what I have in bold above.

$59.99 - gets you PS4 + free PS5 upgrade
$69.99 - base PS5 version

Unless you really want the white strip on the top of the packaging, there's no advantage to getting the regular PS5 version for $10 more. This is why I'm assuming Sony will lower the price of the PS5 version, but we'll see...

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

i saw a couple of stories that doesn't bold well for buyers looking to get a PS5, XB Series or even a PC.....said Chip Prices and Shortages might be getting worse and Nvidia's supply might be 30% less mid-September. Also it seems PS5 scalpers are back to raising prices after the New PS5 Model was announced and then found to be lighter thanks to reducing parts of the cooling system....and the thought is, there might be even more changes and reductions coming....

True, it would make no sense to charge $10 more for the PS5 only version for Horizon.

I missed the point of what fujishig was saying as I thought he meant the $10 upgrade piece.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I really wish they would have just made these games PS5 exclusive so every Playstation article over the last 6 months wasn't about upgrades. If only people spent this much energy whining about real problems in the industry.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Then they would just be complaining that there is no reason why there isn't a PS4 version of the game.

And... Sony loves money like any other company.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Or they could simply include some value add item for the PS5 version. Steelbook. Soundtrack. In-game DLC. Just something to differentiate it from the PS4 version.

Former PlayStation executive Shawn Layden thinks that PlayStation 5 games will cost around $200 million dollars to make (for comparison, the average PlayStation 4 game cost $100 million dollars to make):

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Looks like both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will continue to be difficult to find for some time:

Buying a PS5 or Xbox Series X probably won't get easier before 2023

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Does anyone have any fixes or suggests on how to correct the PS5 controller drift? I have done everything on google except send the controller back to Sony. The drift has gotten so bad, I can hardly play anything due to the controller having a mind of it's own. I wish they could have continued to make the dualshock for the PS5.

I've never heard of them or their games, but cool I guess.
