Sony buys Insomniac Games
Sony has purchased Insomniac Games and will become a first party publisher for them.
I guess it’s a certainty that the Spider-Man game sequel will be a PS5 exclusive.

Cool...and that was pretty much coming. There's some others I'd like to see Sony snap up since MS went on a buying spree last year. I saw where Cliffy B has a game in mind but it be a small Indie Scale. If anything Sony ought to approach Cliffy B and tell they want a Gears of War style game for the PS4....now that would sell like no other...

Well they did make the Xbox exclusive Sunset Overdrive which was a rare misstep for the studio. This will keep them all in house Sony now. Hope that means a new R&C game soon. I miss those two.

I’m guessing that since they have been making PS4 games lately, Sony buying them, doesn’t make a huge difference. If it was a Studio that was making cross platform games, there probably would be.

I love Sunset Overdrive to pieces. Just hate the fact that there aren’t multiple save slots and no New Game+, so you can’t really replay it without signing in under a new profile or completely nuking your save.

It wasn't a particularly well received game. I think the tone was weird. So "EXTREME IN YOUR FACE" and trying to be funny when it just wasn't. I guess they used the Saints Row 3-meets Crackdown model but I don't think that is what Insomniac does best. I liked Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank 2016 way more.
That said I still had some fun with SO.

Microsoft was the only publisher that would accept the requirement that Insomniac would own the IP. (Not that it did them any good. No sequels, no merchandise, and now Sony owns it anyway.)

(I think that, and a "Fizzco" energy drink I never actually drank, were the only things they made...)
(I got both of those things for free. I'd have never paid for them)

When Tony Stark called Rocket "Ratchet" in Endgame, it was my favorite thing in the whole movie.
