Re: Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga (PS, Xbox, Switch, PC - Spring 2022)

I started with Chapter 1 and man does this game look pretty. The colors are so vibrant. I played only a few minutes on Naboo but it was a pretty exhilarating start.

So, I’m not really up to speed on these Lego games history. Played before, but many moons ago. What do the coins do for you? Is it necessary to get them all and bust everything in a room up to get them? I guess I haven’t gotten to a kyber brick yet, but I’m anxiously anticipating.

Re: Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga (PS, Xbox, Switch, PC - Spring 2022)

I'm 3 chapters through Episode IV. Still learning a few things that are mostly just different takes from prior games. Pretty fun and entertaining though. I'm mostly trying to zoom through the story mode without diverting on some of the side things (recalling in previous games you need different characters unlocked when you go through them again to get all the achievements in each).

What are the blue and purple progress bars at the top (the ones to the right of the coin meter)?

Did anyone get the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook? My game arrived but the Steelbook hasn't shipped yet.

Man the Slipcover on the Deluxe Edition is phenomenal.
Spoilered for those who will be picking this up. It's best discovered for yourself.

Got my steel book and game last night... my son and I played co-op for the first level and had a blast. I believe there are tons of character and cheat codes on the web. I'm sure you can unlock the characters along the way and my OCD in a game like this won't let me quit until I 100% it.

That's the kind of fun graphic design we should be getting on the slipcovers for Blu-ray releases!

Anyways, we started on the PC version last night, me and the 14yo. Started with The Phantom Menace, was kinda surprised at how much they compressed the story bits. We're kinda doing a run-and-gun to finish story mode then we'll go back and do the wandering mode.

The intro was fun, with Finn/Poe being recognized and Rose Tico gaining points in my book for tasering Jar Jar.

You usually need a certain amount of studs (coins) in each level to unlock a (previously Gold) Brick. Each level usually has like 5 Gold Bricks avaialble, one of them is always for reaching a certain # of studs. They are obtainable, but usually the best way is to play through the missions. and then go back to free play later after you've gotten a 2X (or higher) stud multiplier, because there will be other unlockables you won't be able to get on first play through anyway, so might as well not stress about the studs.

I agree and was equally surprised regarding their abbreviated levels. They are definitely not going for exact details here. It's been a while since I played the Complete Saga so I'm not sure if they avoided revisiting some of those scenes/levels because of it.

I'm surprised that they removed the manual saving feature in this game and we have to rely on the automatic save feature. I'm not sure if that is a good thing.

Of course, I waited to long to make up my mind if I want to sit here for hours upon hours collecting studs. And now nowhere has the deluxe version. Is the deluxe a one time thing or will it be restocked.

Other than the minifig, the game content for the deluxe (the character packs) can be purchased separately as DLC. In the end, it would cost $5 more to do it that way, but that content is available. (of course, that stinks if you are on multiple switches and have to pay for it more than 1 time).

I imagine that second part is irrelevant to buying the Deluxe Edition vs buying the DLC separately. At least on the PS4/PS5 it's an insert with a code for the extra content.

Something else, even playing on our 60" TV, the split screen sides are a little hard to move around in. Is there an option to make the screens meld together when the two characters are right by each other? I seem to recall one of the older LEGO Star Wars games did this.

Sorry but looking online it has been indicated that it’s a split screen and not a shared screen like you want it.There’s no option to change it.

Episode V Yoda is one ugly looking Lego character.

I was surprised they switched from the shared screen/hybrid-split model. but I think they changed camera angles a lot, and with shooting mechanics it was probably easier just to keep it split 100%.

I didn’t expect so many good jokes. There was a Crazy Taxi reference that came out of left field

They're still coin meters. You get a brick for each one you fill.

I just started Episode II this morning and even trying to just do the story, I keep getting sidetracked as I'll break something for coins and then it turns out to be part of a side mission so off I go. Thankfully 100% isn't necessary for the trophy as there's just so much to do but apparently there's something cool if you do reach it.

Shit, I need a new game like I need a hole in the head, but it sounds like this needs to be purchased.

So, the coin meters and mini kits start on the gungan sub level? I spent way to much time on gungan city trying to get enough studs but nothing ever happened.

Trade ship, Naboo forest, and gungan city have none of those?

I finished Chapter 4-6.
I loved the one with the stormtroopers in a hot tub and their line “This is not the tub that you are looking for”
The breakdancing/moonwalk AT-ST was funny too. There are other ones like making fun of Lando’s capes.
