I'm lagging. Haven't played it all week. I left off when I got to the giant Bull boss in the sewer.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake (4/10/2020: PS4)

Just finished this. I liked certain parts of the game but other parts like the side quests felt very uninspired and repetitive. I loved ffxv and the various side things you can do like fishing, playing games, making recipes, exploring places, driving around, racing Chocobos etc. This game was very linear. There was also an unrecoverable bug for me in chapter 16 so save your game before
Spoiler:
going into the air duct
. The ending was very beautiful though.

Finished as well. Currently working on getting 12/12 materia master so I can unlock Bahamut. Hard Mode is no joke, even if you're maxed at 50.

The PS4 version of this is a freebie from Playstation Plus in March... BUT... no free upgrade to PS5 for that version.

Smart move. If not for the upgrade, I doubt this would have been a freebie for a long time. Great deal for PS4 only owners.

Wait, so my PS4 disk version will become diskless on the PS5? Cool.

No. No. That never happens. You will download a PS5 copy that will require you to put in your PS4 disc to play. Just like they currently do with MK11, Watch Dogs Legions, Sackboy, AC Valhalla, and every other disc based PS4 game that comes with a free upgrade.

Is anyone else playing the Yuffie chapter? The game looks insane on PS5. I've read it's only like 5 hours but I'm already 3 in and haven't moved the plot forward much at all. I finished clearing out all the side stuff in the slums.

Also realized that I must have never uploaded my save to the cloud cause my initial final save for 7r appears to be gone.

Don't have a PS5, so I'm just along for the ride watching a Let's Play on YouTube for the Yuffie chapter... Hoping in another year the "timed" exclusivity wears off and they finally put out the PC version.

I didn't finish the game or buy the Yuffie DLC, but I did upload my PS4 save and just played some on the PS5 today. Yes, it looks unbelievable. Such a graphical improvement of an already great looking game. . Can't believe we are getting this much of an upgrade for free. It's the best looking game on the PS5, I think.

It's not in the Playstation Plus Cloud save, it's a separate thing you have to do manually. You can just start the PS4 version and upload your game to the cloud (no pun intended). Then start the PS5 version and download that game save, then you can delete the PS4 copy from your HDD. It's easy.

Having to install two versions of the same game, download all the patches, and open each for various steps of exporting/importing a save is dumb, even if itís not terribly complicated.

I wiped my PS4 after setting up the PS5. I don't think that's an option for me anymore.

Install the PS4 version, update it, exit the game, download the old game save from the cloud to your console (assuming you had PS Plus and auto-upload), then restart the PS4 version, upload that game save to the Square-Enix dedicated server, then start the PS5 version, download that game save from the in-game save menu, and you'll be good.
Yes, a major hassle, but a lot better than starting over again.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake (4/10/2020: PS4)

Updates from today!
  • FF7R is coming out on Steam tomorrow.
  • A remake of the FF7 prequel Crisis Core is coming out before the end of the year, on basically every platform under the sun (including the Switch).
  • FF7R is being broken up into 3 parts, the next of which ó Rebirth ó is slated for Winter 2023 (until itís inevitably delayed!). At least for the time being, itís a PS5 exclusive.

Well, at least it seems to be on a slightly faster timeline than the Rebuild of Evangelion movies.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake (4/10/2020: PS4)

Thankfully, Sony has fixed the glitch and now those with PS Plus Extra can claim Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade even if they already owned a digital version of another edition before. That was an annoying mistake, but unlike the never-fixed issues with FF7 Remake PS5 version, this one they actually fixed and did so quickly.
