Played it for a bit and the game looks amazing. I'm still getting used to the controls. What was cool is that the game has HDR on the base model. The Pro has 4K. I don't believe it has 5.1 sound, but I'll have to look at my settings to make sure.

Same for me. Not a huge deal, but I don't really understand why this item, which I ordered last June and is now in the warehouse ready to ship, isn't able to be sent and delivered on time. I would understand if I ordered an in-stock already-released game and it took a while to ship, but they've had a ton of lead-up time and it seems like it should have at least shipped by now, even if it were a slower shipping speed.

I did a chat. The rep first said the bonus was in the package (of course it's not, it's an Amazon exclusive). Then they said wait for the game to arrive. So I will wait and see. Checking around the internet, it looks like nobody got the bonus yet.
I at least found an Amazon site that still confirms that it existed as a preorder bonus :

Amazing game so far. I put about 10 hours in over the weekend. I like the original but I'm not one of those people who feel it was the best game ever. I'd recommend this to anyone; even if you've never played a FF game.

I did a chat yesterday. Got a reply from "Akshay from Promotions and Marketing team" this morning. They sent me a code that redeemed for the Seperoth Dynamic theme, but still no Chocobo Chick Summoning Materia code. And I very clearly told them there were TWO CODES.

I’m surprised, but I have zero desire to ply this. I was a fan of the original FF games on NES and SNES (why did I rent I from Blockbuster?! Not like you could beat it in 3 days ). Anyway, I enjoyed them so much I purposefully purchased a PS 1 just so I could play FF VII!
I don’t know how much time I put into that game, but it was a lot. As I recall, I was able to do everything except beat a super advanced boss (Ragnarok?) and unlock the Golden Chocobo.
I tried 8, 9 and maybe 10, but pretty sure I never got through them. Plus dabbled with Online. In general I felt like the series got away too much from the fantasy elements and drifted too far into post modern cyberpunk style.
If they adjust the story for 7 to “correct” a key death and dangling plot thread that was rampant on the inter webs for years I might consider checking it out. That also assumes the entire game comes out.

I played this for a bit last night and Cloud is currently in drag. That whole sequence is really awkward but the music and choreography rock, I just wish it had been a different character and not Cloud.

I'm really liking this game quite a bit. As a stand alone FF game, I think it's really good, but I never played the original so I can't make that comparison. Surprisingly, to me anyway, I'm really drawn in to the story. Typically, I find the narratives in any JRPG (or most other games for that matter) impossible to follow. The games setting, fantasy mixed with familiar, helps keep it somewhat relatable.
I would've preferred a turn based combat system though. Combat is too frenetic and I end up lost in all the action, and I also don't feel like I'm able to really strategize as much as I'd like.

Soldier had a pretty progressive Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.
