Nope. I guess it's some combination of "this was the marketing plan before the delay, and we can't turn back now!" and "get Xbox gamers to preorder this while it's on their mind leading up to the Xbox Series S/X launch".
Kinda like the Monster Energy promotion where you can get codes right now for Halo Infinite skins, even though you won't be able to do anything with 'em for who knows how many months?

Definitely looks more like classic Halo than 4 & 5 so that's promising. Then again, 343 has yet to match the standard Bungie created so I'm cautiously optimistic.

And we have a release date for multiplayer and the single player campaign: December 8th.
Co-op won't come to the campaign until around March, while Forge is looking to be somewhere around June. So, yeah, comin' in hot.

Gonna wait for a sale, but I'll still end up getting the game. I do love that Elite controller, but that's way out of my budget

By the time it gets to a price you want, maybe it'll be more fully featured than what we're getting in a few months.
Microsoft's first-party titles drop pretty quickly. Gears 5 came out in Sept. '19, was $25 in Dec. '19, was $10 by Jun. '20, and was $5 by Nov. '20. Forza Horizon was $35 around 6 weeks after release and $29.99 after 4 months.

Played for about 4-5 hours tonight. Good news! Halo is back! The maps are solid. The weapons feel good good(Promethean are gone, yea!), New equipment is good (I love the grapple).
About the only thing that felt off to me was the grenades. They bounce too much and don't do enough damage.
Also I haven't played Halo MP since 4 so I suck now.
Oh and I have no idea what's going on with the xp, battle pass, season, etc. I've totally skipped over all the modern shooters of the last few years so this mechanic is new to me. I feel kinda lost.

Re: Halo Infinite: Xbox One / Xbox Series S | X - 12/8/21
My 17 year old son saw the press conference yesterday while on break and texted me from school asking me to get his download done so he could jump right in. Being an awesome father who introduced him to Halo as a young kid, I did exactly as he asked and watched him play some yesterday afternoon. It looked fantastic so I actually went and downloaded it myself though I have not touched Halo MP in years. Probably not since Halo 3.
I regaled him with talk of the old LAN parties we used to do and how much fun they were on the original Halo long before Xbox Live came about. Really good times and memories. Then after Live came out and we have the various clans that sprouted from here. Even had a meet-up one time in Indiana. That was a ton of fun and I hate that some of those friendships have long gone to the wayside and many have disappeared from here. But it also took up too much of my time. I probably slept only 4 hours and was trying to play Halo and COD as much as possible back then. So soon what was fun became a chore. But I still miss those days and look back on them now with a lot of fondness.
I really wish those Halo XSX consoles weren't so limited. Any chance that more will be coming out or be made available? I have yet to buy a XSX and that would be my purchase if I could find one for MSRP. It wouldn't be the first Halo edition Xbox I have owned. Those prior special consoles seemed to be a lot easier to get in those days. My son really wants the limited collector's edition of Halo Infinite but that one seems like an impossibility as well.
It is so weird. I used to get those kinds of things on clearance prices once they had been around several months. I guess back then they made too many and now they make too little. Fucking annoying though.

I'm playing this on PC (w/ controller), looks good, runs great. I had fun playing a few rounds last night which is something I haven't felt playing Halo MP in a long time.

So here's a weird one, wondering if any of you guys are experiencing it.
MP won't load if I return to my (xbox series X) and start Halo from the save state/quick load(? don't know what that feature is called). I have to forcibly quit Halo and re-open it to get multiplayer to work. It's been every time too, not just a one-off anomaly.

It's Quick Resume.
I don't bother using it and the few times I did, anything connected to the network lost connection and I had to quit and restart the game.
