Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Very simple story too. You’re basically trying to rid the world of an al-queda like terrorist group with some Russians and others thrown in for good measure right now, date is even 10/25/19 in game (release date). The characters are particularly well written and the Karl Urban sounding guy is awesome.

Played a bit this weekend and love it... however, as you've all mentioned, the Ground War mode is utter chaotic bullshit. No thanks.

I'm playing on PC and it's been a pretty rough launch. The game is as unstable as anything I've played in a very long time, and is filled with bugs. But when things are working as intended, this game is really good. I do wish they'd had Kill Confirmed available for public multiplayer though. It's my favorite mode but it can only be played in private matches right now. |
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
So, the campaign was decent and I'd say it's the second best - COD 4 MW is still the best (mainly the remaster).
The multiplayer is outstanding - yes you can still pointlessly run around and try wiping everyone out but a bit more strategy is needed now if you want to get some good streaks going. I love the size of the maps as well - please people, don't complain that they're too big - they're not and I'm so sick of the tiny, boring maps from games past. So far, Domination 20 (I think that's what it's called) is my favorite - mainly because of the tanks. |
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I got to play Domination last night... it's cool that you can filter on/off the modes you want / don't want. I think my biggest problem with the game besides snipers are the tanks. I don't need those in my CoD game --- Battlefield is where they should reside. I do like that cars can be blown up and there appears to be more destructive environments than ever before --- but not to the degree of BF. I dig it so far and I'll certainly complete the campaign for the first time in about 4 iterations of the game.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I'm so glad you can filter as I prefer the more objective based games over DM/TDM. So far the maps seem well balanced and encourage/allow lot's of different play styles. I prefer to hang around and secure objectives and play more of a support role.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
i'm off tomorrow and gonna play as much as i fucking can!

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Just loving this campaign. Has all the essentials I love, especially stealth takedowns and sniping. I love sniping and a good, lined up headshot for some reason. Especially if silent. The story is so simple, but character actors and models, especially, are amazing. Just a great, nicely defined FPS war game.

Anyone finish this and know how long SP campaign is?

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
And why do they mostly make up insurgent country names, yet we’re always USA. Is that not to piss off other nations? Then why can use Russia and some other real countries like UK (Not just this game)? And how do you know when chapter ends? There are cut scenes, but no chapter titles or anything except new location change...

you really get into the characters too. seeing backstory and even playing as younger character. Farah for instance. gives them depth and feel more and twists too, really surprising how much i am liking. and it's not a cake walk. i die.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I will say this...the campaign goes in a blink of an eye. I’ve been only playing a few hours since release and only have 4 chapters to go. I feel like I barely did anything. But it has been fun till now...

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I flew through this campaign last weekend and had a blast doing so. This is the first time ever I have gotten into the multiplayer for a COD game and I am actually really liking that as well. Some levels are certainly better than others, but hearing that remasters from older games are coming this month (and I believe for free) that will keep my interest for some time to come. COD is back on the right track it seems.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
you know, it is fun and i'm almost done, but seems more cutscenes than action. little disappointed in that aspect thus far. i felt barely begun and on second to last mission. but, still like the fluidity and simpleness and shooting of course. i dunno. we'll see how it ends...

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
wow! was that over before you know it. i don't think i have even finished a game in under months let alone 1 week. it was good and emotional, but before you know it it's over. it went so quick and felt like not a whole lot to do. hope the sequel is longer. oh well, still fun. i may have to go to the remastered original to get more of a fix before i go back to Outer Worlds and Borderlands 3...

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
It was pretty short but I dug it; I believe the flashback with the revolver is broken. |

Anyone else have issues in MP with the filter not working? I have TDM and DM turned "off" but I still keep getting placed in those game types.

Make sure you hit "X" (or whatever button on PS4) to make sure the second set of game modes aren't checked - you'll see the page flip when you hit the button. only make sure one yellow bullet appears on the mode you want.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I'm finding most modes to feature a ton of campers... I try to stick to Domination as I'm better at playing objectives than trying to out-duel Mountain Dew'd up tweens.

edit: seems like they fixed this, it should stay filtered |
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I’m going back to remastered original and then 2 to get my true fix. this new one didn't do it for me and scratch the itch entirely...

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I'm admittedly not the best COD player but those Spec Ops missions are hard as hell.
|
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I have no business being as good at CoD as I am. I think the last 4 years of Rainbow Six Siege have forced me to be more precise with my shooting and I routinely come in top 2 of all my matches right now.

This was one area that intrigued me about COD...sort of sounded like their version of The division's Raid...but I've read it on several places that this is broken...like unbearable hard with the AI way to OP. Which i probably why i don't see much feedback and input on that mode. I'll play MP but I much prefer modes like Survival/Horde/Defend in PvE....to this day Horde in Gears of War remains the staple.....I hope they get it fixed and also add more to it. |
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Man, you guys are so right...these MW campaigns are so short. Objectives completed in under 10-15 minutes sometimes. Fuck. Couple hours, half already finished. My fix is still itching. I have 2 set to go next but not make it before Fallen Order as I really want to start on that. We’ll see...
No others releasing big after Fallen Order, right? |

No others releasing big after Fallen Order, right? And even though it's short I think many of the missions are pretty fantastic. Just captured Spoiler:

What difficulty are you playing on? I'm on hardened and it's challenging (for me) and takes longer. I still recall the day I beat the first MW on veteran, that final airplane mission tried 1000 times, "weapons free..."

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Just went through and re-played the campaign on Veteran. Definitely more challenging, but not maddeningly so.
I was trying to get the Tunnel Rat trophy, where you do the caves in Wolf's Den using only the 1911 pistol. I thought I did, but then I didn't get it. Turns out when I used a single flash bang to blind it nullified my great achievement, which was super annoying. So then I went back and did it on Casual in nothing flat. Oh well. I'd say my favorite are the times when you're clearing a house--so well done and pretty intense. |
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Sweet season one content hitting tomorrow - all free - maps: Shipment, Vacant, & Crash (all from COD 4 modern warfare) - new spec ops missions and bunch more stuff.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I picked this up from the library over the weekend and played a couple hours of the campaign. I like the feel of these games on the harder difficulty, it really makes you change how you play since you can only take a few hits before going down.
|
Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
And done. I still really enjoy these campaigns and really missed last year's. I'm glad they brought it back. Time to play a few rounds of multiplayer and then back to the library!

Surprised that no one has weighed in yet about the release of the Battle Royal update this week. I have to admit I am LOVING the survival and especially Plunder in Warzone. The map is huge and really well designed and it's so much crazy fun to play. Utterly fantastic. This is gonna keep me occupied for a long time.
