I just hope the ability to search for levels and makers is better than on SMM1
plus the star system sucks, too many crap levels starred.

Looks like you're gonna need to subscribe to Nintendo's online service in order to play the user created levels.

That is kinda crappy as that is very different from Online play. I already subscribe to the service, but still.

It's going to have the unintended consequence of not having levels from people who would create cool levels but don't subscribe to the service, hobbling the number of user created levels.

i'm not worried about that. Anyone who takes enough time and effort to make levels worth sharing will probably pony up the $20/year in order to share them with the world.

night mode changes the style of play, including flipping courses upside down
vertical levels confirmed
diagonal belts and belts that can change direction by hitting the on/off switches
everything else was pretty much already know before the direct
story mode
endless course world that continues until you run out of lives
searching by tags, ie puzzles
new sound affects
changing into 3d World clears the board since 3D stuff only works in that theme
no Mario Bros 2

Nice that they have a digital bundle of the game + 1 year online for $69.99. Not a bad deal.

In addition, for those with Nintendo Online already, you can pay $99.99 and get a voucher for two Switch games to save up to $19.99.

Quality of the pre-made levels, or what people have been creating and putting up?

the story mode levels are great but some of the user created levels look almost as though Nintendo created them
I'm sure there will be junk but so far I like what I've played
The new items, slopes, off / off switches etc really do add to it
so far the 3D world style has the best levels IMO, sadly no night theme in 3D world though. The addition of clear conditions is big, it really adds to the gameplay

detailed search is great but searching by night themed levels and searching levels with clear conditions aren't included
already mentioned no night in 3D world
a map maker would amazing
more game styles, enemies , powers ups
the mountain and beach themes from New Super Bros U would be great
overall though I may never put this game down

I wasn't sure myself, so I found this.

If you currently don't have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you'll still be able to play local multiplayer and create levels for people to play on your own console. You just won't be able to access any online content in the game's Course World.

I've never really been into Mario games since the NES days, but I bought this anyway because FOMO plus getting another year of Nintendo online for 8 bucks.
