I'm guessing Mahomes this year.

Why, is Mahomes due for a season ending injury or regression?

Yep, was Mahomes. Sorry Chiefs fan.

I skipped NFL 19. And from the reviews I saw, it really wasn't a major upgrade from NFL 18.

I may come back for 20. My Best Buy GCU membership officially runs out this August, so hopefully I'll be able to get this before it runs out. But, that heavily depends on reviews.

Or you can get NFL 19 for like 9 bucks now. :)

I don't see myself buying any more EA Sports games this console generation.

When does EA lost the rights to the NFL again? I can't wait for Sega to jump back in.

I think they just renew it every few years at this point. The pairing isn't going anywhere, any time soon.

fujishig 04-26-19 10:26 AM

Re: Madden NFL 20

Even if they didn't renew the exclusive contract (which I don't see going away anytime soon), it would take 2K years and years to catch up even if they wanted to. I mean look at Live compared to NBA 2k, and they didn't lose the license in that, they were just incompetent and can't catch up.

I wish it was. Here in Canada, the physical version is still $40 and the cheapest I saw the digital was $20.

Oh, I just saw it on sale on Xbox digitally for 9 bucks, but didn't think of region.

Seems like it's 12 canadian dollars, which is like 9 bucks US:

I also have fond memories of NFL2K5, but isn't the NBA2K series a micro-transaction shit show now?

Every sports game is, sadly. Madden is far worse though.

Re: Madden NFL 20

The damning thing about 2k is that, at least to me, the RPG elements of myplayer are a big draw, and that's what microtransactioned to heck and back.
For football, the rpg element isn't as big a draw to me (mainly because unless you're playing QB or maybe RB/WR/CB/LB, it's not all that interesting to be tied to one position). But if you were into those card games, then yeah.

But if NFL 2K were ever to resurface, I'm fairly sure they would take a lighter approach in order to gain fans back. Like NBA Live isn't a microtransaction hellscape but if Live ever actually put out a product that could compete with 2k evenly, they would certainly pivot.

Thanks! Too bad that I’m on a PS4 as I would have bought it.

Player ratings were released yesterday for Madden NFL 20. Aaron Donald, Bobby Wagner, Khalil Mack and Deandre Hopkins are the highest rated players at 99.

Re: Madden NFL 20

Best Buy has a deal this week if you trade in Madden 18 or 19, you get a $10 coupon towards Madden 20 that's in addition to any trade in value it is.

I have Madden 18 (passed on 19) and looked at BB's trade in value. It's 50 cents.

So $10.50 isn't too bad I guess. Plus I get an extra $12 with my soon to be expired GCU membership. I might go ahead and get it this year.

Madden Season kicks off with gameplay innovations including Superstar X-Factor abilities, signature animations, and brand-new playbook updates. Win the College Football Playoff on your way to becoming the next QB1 in Franchise Mode. Feel like an NFL superstar and call your offense like a pro. Take stardom into your own hands when EA Access begins on July 25.

Sega doesn't make Live, so you can't compare the two. 2k series was hands down 100% better then Madden. Its the reason why madden went out of their way to get the exclusive license. Though, I thought sega would jump back in at this point in time. What I wouldn't give to play a 2k football again. So, many great memories of beating people online with the Jets and if they would pick a powerhouse team. I would pick the redskins and still dominate.

Re: Madden NFL 20

So I went to Best Buy yesterday and traded in my Madden 18 and got the coupon and 55 cent gift card for it's trade-in value.

I didn't realize the game doesn't come out until August 2nd. So if you do this promo, you need to pre-order the game in store and then use the coupon right away as it expires August 1st.

If you guys have Madden 20 and play Ultimate Team, go claim your Jim Brown card.

Re: Madden NFL 20

So Madden 20 comes out today.

I did pre-order it after trading my Madden 18 last week. Madden 18 was only worth 55 cents and was given a gift card for that. And I did get the $10 voucher. With my GCU membership not expiring until the 25th, I'll also get an extra $12 off.

The voucher didn't work for the pre-order, so I just paid $5 down and they assured me it would work on release day even though it said it expires on 8/1 (yesterday) I'll pick it up later today.
