Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

I have 2 trophies left for Mad Max (PS4) but one of them is the one for the Challenges completion. I’m not sure if I’m going to finish that one because I have a lot for the car challenges to complete. Completed all of the Main and Wasteland missions so enemy cars don’t spawn very often. The combat is complete and the Wasteland ones, I’m short 2.

I restarted Infamous Second Son after close to four and half years. It was one of my first games that I bought for the PS4 when I first bought it. I remember getting stuck in the early part and abandoning it. This time, things are much easier and I’m hoping to finish it off before going back to work next week.

I have been downloading the PS+ games I collected over the years and trying it out. I also bought some games during the recent sale like Galaga, Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man.

I'm playing Dusk.

An old-school FPS. Kind of primitive, but I have gotten into it enough to be enjoying it.

I was at the library browsing over the weekend and picked up Far Cry Primal since I still haven't played it yet. After 5 hours or so now I'm hooked. It never gets old sending your animal into battle while you pick off people with your bow.

Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

Still playing through The Legend of Heroes: Cold Steel.

It's a very long game (estimated around 100 hours per play-through on HLTB) with lots of dialogue... Even the NPC's always seem very well developed. To 100% the game requires multiple play-throughs with NG+, but I ain't got time to delve several hundred hours into this game. It's taken me almost a month to play about 60 hours and when I finish it I wanna jump into Cold Steel 2 rather than replay this one right away. Definitely love the game though.

I wanna find time to play all the side-games in the Kingdom Hearts franchise before III releases, but that doesn't seem likely at all. Cold Steel will probably keep me busy through this month.

Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

I loved Grandia 2. That and Skies of Arcadia made it worth having a Dreamcast.

I just started Red Dead Redemption 2, but I'm almost finished with Agents of Mayhem so I want to wrap that up. I play Mad Max for a couple hours then take a break, same with Diablo 3.

Thought of replaying SKIES OF ARCADIA, but remembered that it had too many damn random battles!

Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

I loved Grandia 2 as well. Played through it three times on PS2 and purchased the HD Remaster on Steam. Although haven't gotten around to replaying that version.

Beat Grandia 3 several times as well, although Grandia 2 was the much better game in my opinion.

I didn't like Grandia Xtreme however and dropped it a few hours into it.

I've always wanted to play Grandia 1 but never have gotten around to it. Still hoping to see an HD Remaster for the PC eventually happen but it doesn't seem like it will.

Skies of Arcadia is another game on my backlog of games I'd like to eventually play.

Skies of Arcadia is still one of the few games I regret selling to this day. I thought for sure it would have been ported again by now from the Dreamcast / Gamecube version.

Still working on Dragon Quest XI.

But tonight I plan on firing up Kentucky Route Zero (PC). I've heard really polarizing things about it for years and figured I should finally give it a shot.

Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

Since it’s free with my Gold Pass on XBox, I downloaded and started to play Celeste... and now I’m asking myself, “Why is GOTY material?”

im not a fan of dying over and over again just to do some tricky jump/dash/climb combo wrong and attempt it again. Does it get any better?

Why should I care about collecting strawberries?

This game is more frustrating than fun.

Far Cry 5. Really enjoying it.

Also Airwolf on the NES, which is awful.

If I remember correctly, there is also an easy mode that helps with all of the dying. That's the mode I intend on trying out once I start

I’ve been playing the God of War Collection on Vita (working on the first one). Also still playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trying to work through the Spirit mode.

It's the same concept throughout the entire game, so if you hate it early on it only gets more difficult. There's some nice story elements in the middle of the game, but that's about all that would be different. Strawberries don't really do anything other then change the ending a bit, otherwise it's just for the challenge to collect them.

Celeste isn't really GOTY type of material for me either, but I can see why people like the type of game just for the challenge.

I'm a few hours in and its got one of the best assist modes I've ever seen. If you have assist mode on at any point if you're getting stuck on something you can pause the game and give yourself more dashes, change the game speed, remove the stamina, and then as a last resort invincibility.

Its not GOTY material. But there are many individuals in the "games journalism" space that suffer from anxiety and depression. I do believe that has played significantly into its reviews. As for the game itself, its the same thing through and through to the end.

Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

Slowly and surely still making my way through Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox. Chapter 6. Getting there.

And saw a deal this morning on $60 of eShop money for $50 at NewEgg, so used that to buy New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe as someone that never had a Wii U.

Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2019)

I finished my first play through on Good Karma in Infamous Second Son. Now, I’m playing it on Evil Karma. Just need to complete the game to Platinum it.

Edit - Not bad for a game that I started in 2014, played it until character reaches Seattle (which is not far) and kind of gave up until January of this year. I'm kind of proud that I will be able to Platinum this game even though is not that hard to do.
