Best Couch Co-op/head-to-head/whatever games of this generation?

Looking for some recommendations for games to play for 2 or more people, in person, in front of a single television. So, couch co-op or head-to-head battles or something along those lines. Doesn't necessarily have to be family friendly, but preferably games that anyone can pick up and play (I'm thinking something like Smash Bros is more for people with skills... and not a casual game... but I've never played it)

Any console (Switch/XO/PS4) is fine.

edit: To be clear... not looking for a game that takes days to complete; something more casual (but still fun, especially for adults).

Thanks!

Not brand new but the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are fun for local co-op play. They were last generation but got re-released on Xbox One.

I almost never play co-op games but the two Overcooked games are a fantastic couch co-op experience.

Sport-ish
  • Rocket League
  • #IDARB

Puzzle-y
  • Overcooked! and its sequel
  • Snipperclips

Quiz / Low-key Competition
  • Jackbox (doesn't matter which one!)
  • Sony's PlayLink games (That's You!; Knowledge Is Power)

Action / FPS
  • I would play against my wife split-screen in Star Wars: Battlefront, avoiding all the online stuff. I haven't kicked those tires in the sequel.

A Way Out is a really fun one to play either couch co-op or online. It's an adventure that doesn't take that long but is pretty cool. Who doesn't want to bust out of prison with a buddy?

They got delisted in July so not available for sale anymore on Steam, Xbox or PSN and there wasn't a physical release. Amazon and GameStop has a limited number of digital codes you can still buy from their sites but it's $60 and once they run out that's it.

I remember picking up a version of Wheel of Fortune back around the PS1/N64 timeframe to play with non gamers over the holidays.

Unfortunately, the game had a very short unconfigurable timer to solve the puzzles, so entering anything more than 2 or 3 characters, it would time out, so it was frustrating for everyone. Not sure how that got through any play testing.

They are still cranking out newer versions for all the systems.

Thanks everyone. We played a bit of Overcooked the other night (I bought it last year, but never played it ) and had a lot of fun with it... but the levels seems to get exponentially harder as you go. That, or we just suck at co-op. I'm sure we'll revisit it again, though.
A bunch of the other suggestions sound good, too. I'm particularly interested in A Way Out, so I might buy that for us to play. Also Jackbox and Sony's PlayLink games... I definitely need something to make up for the lack of Scene It on current-gen consoles.
