I believe the NES blew everyone away. It was a quantum leap over prior videogame systems. I'm pretty sure that Intellivision briefly hung around to see the NES redefine videogames.

Pre-orders are up and, umm...
https://www.fig.co/campaigns/amico
They're only offering it in three 'bundled' options ranging from $249-$279, and you're paying a $100 deposit up front.
The bundles are identical, except that the $279 version is wood grain.
Have a feeling this one won't pan out.

I think it’ll come out, but I think a person would be a fool or blinded by nostalgia to buy it. I mean there was a trailer recently showing the games and they all look like mobile quality games. I don’t see why anyone would pay for this when there are so many better options for close to the same price as this will be.

WTF on that price?
The PS Classic seems much better, lists for $100, and was blowing out for less than $20.
No idea what they're thinking with this one.
Also, while posting, it appears you can't use a < sign followed by a '$' ?

This thing is a joke. It’s just cashing in on nostalgia for a very small group. Why would a kid want this with its dinky mobile looking games when they probably have a tablet or phone (or at the least their parents probably do) that does as much as this does?

Forget a PlayStation Classic. If you’re willing to dish out the money you could get a Switch Lite for $199 and it’ll do far more and be $50 less than this. That or spend $50 more for a full on Switch. Either way you’re going to get your moneys worth way more.

There's maybe a little curiosity with the Intellivision console, but there isn't any nostalgia for it, is there? The NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and PS1 all had games that were and are still beloved. The Intellivision had, what? Generic football and baseball games that looked better than Atari's and a funky, disc-shaped controller?

I absolutely loved my Intellevision and if I could get my Wii to play discs consistently like it used to, I'd be playing my Intellevision Greates Hits Gamecibe disc quite a bit. Triple Action saw tons of action in our house when I was a kid and I'd live to play that with my kids. Not for over $50, though. Bummer on how this system is turning out.

My friend's grandmother had an Intellivision in the house, and we'd play it all the damn time. Now, the only game I even remember is this one, and it was a ton of fun at the time. Can't justify buying the system just for this though

Even as a video game obsessed kid, I remember looking through my dad’s stack of games and deciding what I’d settle for playing.

I was pretty much the only kid in my neighborhood that didn't have Atari... and the only one that had Intellivison. But I loved it. Still have it (in the original box) with the games. Snafu, Lock & Chase, Nightstalker, Tron, AD&D, Burgertime, etc. Man I loved those games growing up. The price is a little steep on this Amico, but I'm very much interested in it. We'll see when it comes out what the games look like. I hear a new Earthworm Jim might be an exclusive.

I missed out. BurgerTime was my favorite arcade game (okay, maybe #2 behind Dig-Dug) growing up, but we didn’t have it for the Intellivision. (I don’t remember us having any recognizable arcade ports.) I do remember seeing Burger Time for the NES at Toys R Us and getting really excited, but we never pulled the trigger. If it weren’t $400, I’d be tempted by the Arcade1Up cab.

I only learned this week that there's a new Intellivision coming out, and boy was I surprised. I spent countless hours playing the original back in the day, so I'm definitely interested. I don't expect it to compete with the latest offerings from the major players in the console war because it won't have the same horse power and all that, but from what I've seen I think some of the games look fun. I can't wait to play the new versions of Astrosmash and Night Stalker! The price doesn't bother me since it's much less than the best Playstation or Xbox console and because the games will be priced much less too. I think it's pretty cool that a smartphone/tablet can act as a controller so you don't have to buy additional controllers if you don't want to. I know the Amico won't appeal to hardcore gamers who want the most powerful system available, but maybe there are enough casual/nostalgic gamers who'll like what they see in the Amico and they'll take a chance on it.

Curious as to whether or not this will meet its new date (April sometime). I really have no interest in it still and think it’s a bit of a joke for the price.

Most of the games look nice. Still wouldn't buy it, unless it dropped substantially, like the Playstation version.

Somehow I missed the update game part of this release. I'm impressed, yet surprised. I'd think the nostalgia would sell this. Do the new games have the same play control? Not controllers, but the feel of the controls? Are the originals on it, as well?

The big problem with this thing is that they’re trying to fill a market that doesn’t really exist or is already satisfied. It’s being sold as family friendly, but yet Nintendo is already family friendly with many well established franchises. Also while not exclusively for families Xbox and PlayStation both have family oriented games too.
If you really look into the Amico a lot of the games here look to be cheap games like you’d probably find on a cell phone or tablet. There really aren’t any major exclusives aside from a new Earthworm Jim game.
I just think that for the price this is going to retail for people are going to find it’s not worth it. Even if it has classic games that you may remember I can’t shake the feeling that it won’t be a case of people have fun with it for a while and then the nostalgia factor wears away and this thing will collect dust.
