Anyone else not get the survival game genre?
 

By survival game genre I mean something like Conan Exiles, Ark: Survival Evolved, Metal Gear: Survive or State of Decay.

I just don't get the point. Ther's no story, when you die you loose everything and it just feels like a whole bunch of tedium with little to no direction. Am I missing something here?

I love State of Decay.

Really not sure what you mean, when you die, the character is dead but the items can be recovered. The tension is intentional, it is a survival game, not a respawn forever game.

Some of us like the challenge, the struggle and the planning that goes into surviving. I enjoy the building, scavenging and planning for important ops.

There are lots of types of games I have zero interest in or don't "get". You're not supposed to like every type of game.

I get the appeal. I don't like them, and I don't play them... but I get it.

Haven't played any mentioned but I do love me some CoD: Zombies. It's all about getting the team to work together to see how long we can survive. Good times. :up:

Some survival games does have a story mode, for example The Long Dark or Subnautica.
Not my division either, but I believe, that some gamers play them for greed and better loot. Also, it might be challenging to build your home (or a whole town) from scratch. My niece was obsessed with Ark for some time, so I've heard a lot of stories (and enthusiastic screeches) from her :)
