Still have not canceled but might. The PSX is what got me back into gaming, and I have more fond memories of the PSX then the NES or SNES. But, by the same token, I played my NES classic twice, and never opened my SNES classic and they are both collecting dust. So I probably should as this most likely will too.

Or: sell the NES, open the SNES and mod it to run PSX games. Then play everything. From what we're reading, the modded SNES will run the PSX games better than the actual Sony product anyway..!

Wii Classic Controller Pro :) Or just cherry-pick digital-only games, it's not like Sony even included DualShocks with their Classic.

But you'd have to play Playstation games with SNES controllers? Or are they USB?
But I mean, you can plug a hdd into it at least. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
PlayStation Classic Using PAL Versions For Several Games Regardless Of Region.
In a somewhat odd choice, Sony has revealed that the PlayStation Classic's library will be partly based on the PAL versions of these games. Essentially, this means that several games on the PlayStation Classic will run slower than they did in the American releases. PAL, or Phase Alternating Line, is a television standard used through most of Europe. For proper conversion, older video games would run at 50 hertz, necessitating that games that ran at 30 frames per second in an America would run at 25 frames per second in Europe. I suggest checking out a proper technical analysis, but long story short: this basically changes the way the game runs and results in things like different speeds for racing games and different timing for fighting games. Sony confirmed the news in a blog post for the PlayStation Classic today. While it was assumed that European PlayStation Classics would retain their PAL versions, for some reason the North American version is following suit. The games based on the PAL releases are Battle Arena Toshinden, Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Grand Theft Auto, Jumping Flash, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, Tekken 3, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. In the case of games like, say, Tekken 3, this effectively changes the way the game is played for people who remember the North American versions. It is certainly an odd choice for Sony, which presumably comes down to ease of manufacturing or running the games. In the blog post, Sony also quashes the rumor that the PlayStation Classic will ever be upgradeable with more games. "The PS Classic is preloaded with 20 of the best games from the original PlayStation," the company writes. "It is not possible to purchase additional games for PlayStation Classic." The PlayStation Classic releases on December 3. https://www.gameinformer.com/2018/11...less-of-region I know this has already been brought up in this thread, I just thought it was funny Sony thinks the games they picked are some of the best from the original PS. |

I mean, even if they don't think that, what are they supposed to say? :)

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
I just canceled mine, too.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
I have a feeling these are going to get blown out price-wise sooner rather than later. If it hits $29.99 I may take a flier on it.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Yeah, that may be worth it. The internals are confirmed to be a good step above the SNES Classic's, and the same hacking community is already preparing to do their thing.
I personally was holding out for a PS2, but that's gotta be in doubt judging by the reception to this thing. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
The PAL screwup is so inexplicable, I can only assume that whoever was put in charge of this thing just downloaded the ISOs from the internet and didn't realize they were PAL versions. With this thing having HDMI only and TVs worldwide doing 60hz, there wasn't even any need for the European version to use the PAL versions.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
So, did anybody actually go ahead and buy one?

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

After being "Unavailable" for weeks, it looks like Amazon got a shit load of pre-order cancellations.
It looks like it's easily available on Amazon. Looks like it's also easily available at Gamestop too. Looks like this product is going to be a bomb for Sony. |

The system is a bomb. The commercial however is super-stylish and slick :

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
I still don't get why they opted to NOT include the power cord needed to power the system on?
You spend $100 on this thing and are required to buy the power cord separately to be able to get any use out of it... |

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
It's literally the same charger piece on the end of cell phones, right? I'm not defending their decision on not including one, but it's not like every household doesn't at least have one lying around somewhere.
Either way, it's not going to keep this turd from failing in the end. |

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Companies never learn. You have to do it right, not just hit all the bullet points someone else did. I wish I could say this is going to show Sony something, but I've been through this cycle multiple times already. :(

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
I think the only way I would buy one is if it was full of Japanese games that didn't come out in the US.
