Damn; I'd probably grab it if the sale was on Xbox also. They had a big AC sale recently but Odyssey season pass was still full price.
I did pick up Black Flag for $12 though! Never played that one.

I'll probably pick it up toward the end of the sale. I'm still on my self-imposed break. I haven't played in two weeks, but I'll be starting back soon.

I'm already missing this game. Since I've decided to put down KH3, I may go back to this and go through more of the side content I didn't complete.

Since I was underwhelmed with KH3 and put it down for a while, I decided to dive back into Ancient Greece and buy the Season Pass. Started the game back up and immediately got sidetracked doing random quests still on my log. lol
ACIII is a nice bonus but I played that one at launch.

Just picked this up yesterday, because it was on sale and I had some credit. Does anyone have advice for someone new to the series? I've played about a 1/2 hour so far, so still not really sure what I'm doing at this point. Is the story of the other ACs important at all?
And oh yeah, do you really need a PS Pro for this to look good? So far it looks kinda janky to me (especially the characters and their animation).
Final question! How do you think this game compares to the Witcher? That was my partner's fav game so far this generation, and this game is giving me Witcher vibes so far. Is that a fair comparison?

You don't need any knowledge of the previous games to play this. It takes place before all the other games in the series. This is more of an open world action game than The Witcher which is kind of a classic western RPG.
You don't need to know much. Just keep doing missions (side missions are fine and sometimes fun). Keep swapping out your equiptment for better stuff and leveling up your character with new abilities. You will get the hang of it soon enough.

This is curious to me, because so far I've seen choices you make effect the story, character leveling up, skill points, dialog trees, side quests, gear replacement and enhancement, and I'm assuming crafting. What else do you need in a game to consider it a RPG?

It's the most RPG-like of the AC series, but it's really more of an action game. Not nearly as story-driven as The Witcher. And the choices you make have consequences but not like a true RPG - especially one as story-driven as Witcher 3
Metacritic agrees with me, BTW

FYI this is down to 19 on Amazon today.
I agree that this is an action/RPG. You level your character, upgrade weapons and armor, and have skill trees. IMO Witcher is an RPG with action elements; this is an action game with RPG elements.

An RPG with action elements is more of a game that has a heavy role playing base(gathering resources, trading armor out for ones with higher stats, focusing on strength, intelligence, luck etc, developing your character to suit your playstyle) but the combat tends to be more fast paced and on the action side than the traditional turn based game style or something like Skyrim where combat isn't as important.. Whereas an action game with RPG elements tends to focus more on action and adventure but features light RPG elements that you can add to your character without focusing as much on building them how you like(games like the CD Tomb Raider, Spiderman, God of War Far Cry etc).

Assuming that I don't care about the ACIII and AC Liberation remasters, is there any reason to pick up the Gold Edition? The digital Gold version is currently $33 on Amazon, but it looks like the base game keeps dipping to $20 and under recently.

It is kind of a fake RPG. Yes you can level up and level up your equipment, but all the enemies, quests, loot, and rewards level up with you so it doesn't accomplish much to level up. The enemies that were level 1 when you were level 1 are level 40 when you are level 40. The loot that would have been level 1 if you got it on level 1 is now level 40 loot when you are level 40. The only thing it does is let you catch up to enemies that start on a higher level, but once you catch up to them, they level up with you also. Leveling up is all an illusion.

I finished the first two chapters of the DLC over the weekend. Sneaking through a base and taking out everyone without being seen never gets old. Just hit level 57 and I still have plenty to do considering side content. Becoming the Tier 1 mercenary finished up my Inventory page with all Legendary, thanks to the horse skin you get for the achievement.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get 4 legendary people on your ship if you didn't do the "full" ending and don't want to spend RL money for the purchased ones? I'm at 3/4.

I think you can get the legendary people for your ship through the Ubisoft club using points you get playing the game.
I just finished the 3rd part of the DLC, I liked the ending, and am looking forward to more Kass. I hope the next DLC has new areas and isn't broken up into parts. But I did like how this last DLC used areas that weren't really used in the regular game, to make it seem like new locations at least.

Is there an achievement for getting all four as Legendary?

That's good to hear. If there's no achievement, I probably won't bother (unless I am able to "buy" one with that currency). Just annoying seeing that one slot of Purple in a sea of Gold!
