Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018
Well to be honest i think i got into the AC series rather late. I played the first game for about 10 mins when it originally came out and was not too impressed. The game that got me into the series was Black Flag, which i loved, and then have thoroughly enjoyed Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey. The games have clearly improved with each iteration to the point where i love the worlds they create, the characters that inhabit them and the game mechanics which make them such a pleasure to play. Odyssey truly is a masterpiece game and the DLC so far have all been fantastic. This is an occasion where i feel the Season pass has been worth the money, especially when you compare it to games that simply give skins or one or two different weapons as DLC for Seasons passes.
I would highly recommend giving these games a second chance or some more of your time if you have drifted from them. They are the kind of games that the more you play they more they give back in thrills and enjoyment.

I've been on a long break. I was getting way too into the game. I would start playing at 9AM and then all of a sudden it would be 6PM.... I was about to start the Minotaur quest before I took a break. Looking at this thread, I've been taking a break since the end of January.... It might be time to pick it back up tomorrow.

Well only had about 30 mins to play last night, so not much of a chance to check out the Underworld environment. It does look very nicely done and looking forward to explore it. This is the kind of thing that would be amazing in VR with sheer scale of things.
So right off the bat you have to fight Cereus, which is alluded to at the end of Episode 1. Its not that tough once you figure out his routine. Its OK, looks nice, but not game changing.
Hopefully have more of a chance to play it tonight and really explore.

So yesterday i completed everything the new DLC had to offer. Very enjoyable, and the one thing that has shined throughout this game is how it presents stories that are very mature in their content. By that i don't mean offering graphic sex and violence, but rather stories that are more realistic and which show the nature of humanity. This game has proven to be outstanding and i only wish other companies spent as much time giving as much with DLC.

Back again. This past couple of days I ran through the last DLC (Fate of Atlantis Episode 3) and really enjoyed it. Again not much of a challenge, but ended the story well. Having said that, I am currently at 99% completion for all the game and DLC and see one challenge left to complete, which is not going to be available until next month, so game hasn't fully ended yet.
This series has gone from strength to strength and the open world, story and fight mechanics have improved greatly every time. For me this was the game of the year, especially as the developers provided a lit of great support for it.
Bring on the next Assassins Creed.

I'm about halfway through the 2nd part of the Atlantis DLC.
I'm enjoying it, but a bit of burnout is settling in. Though I have put in almost 200 hours into the game, so there's that too!

I know what you mean. I have spent a lot if time on this game, and one of the reasons I kept going back to other games after completing each DLC.
Its looking like a couple of the broken missions might have been fixed in the last update. I had two that could not completed due to a glitch and got one of them finished this week.

Well, I finally killed this game the other day, not platinum, but close enough.
All DLC finished, and the final tales of Greece mission dropped yesterday, so that was the last bit of content for the game (I think).
Final stats: level 80, 165 hours played. Phew!

I finally jumped back into this. I took down the Minotaur and the Sphinx. The Mintoaur was a difficult battle, but I didn't die once. I came close though and it was hard to avoid him after his second phase. The Sphinx was easy. I'm over 60 hours in and I'm level 44.

I am seeing a lot more quests pop up on the map and they are saying they are created by different people. Are they letting you play user created quests now?

It's been over a year and 106 hours of gameplay, but I finally finished the main story! I got all three endings. I fought Medusa today and it was a long and arduous battle. I'm glad to be finished. I haven't 100% completed the map, but I may go back and do that. I bought the season pass and I will play the DLC after taking a nice long break from this game. I thought the DLC content would automatically download after I bought the season pass, but I had to go in and manually download all 6 episodes. I'm looking forward to new Viking themed game. I just hope it doesn't take 100 hours to finish.

This game was one of my favorites from 2018/2019 and I pumped in a good couple of hundred hours. I am also looking forward to the next edition with Vikings. I do expect it will be another massive game.

I played some of the lost tales of Greece free dlc tonight since I didn’t want to start a new game until my next day off. Some of it is quite buggy. I had my first ever case of Kassandra freezing in place. It happened multiple times during the find Barnabas’s wife quest. I also found a friend for the one eyed poet, but I couldn’t find him when I returned to his island. It’s been a little frustrating.

I've been eyeing this game day one but was still in the middle of AC:Origins.....last week this was Deal of the Week in the PS Store at $13.00 and I couldn't resist....
I'm only at Level 8 now but it's been fun....I just got my Ship two days ago and now just want to sail around crashing, ramming, burning, boarding ships.....that's just fun as heck.....love the option of Knocking out and Recruit for Crew. That's added a whole side to game play.
Overall it's been solid though still early. I like the menu setup though can't compare to Origins since I haven't played that in like 6-7 months. Combat has been good though sometimes the climbing up & down wants to do it's own thing. Since I had the "Guy" in Origins I went with Kassandra and I really like her attitude...I also like the up close conversations and choices they have put in with a bit more emotion and reaction than Origins.
I haven't ventured around Greece enough to draw a comparison yet to the overall look, design, art, layout...but Origins captured Egypt that was nothing short of stellar and amazing. There's still all those finer details in the towns, streets, items laying about, weather, time of day & night here in Odyssey. Been good and fun so far...this and Origins are in my Top 20 Game List for sure...

Still enjoying this...did my first Conquest battle yesterday and that was fun...wish it went on longer. That ability, Shield Breaker basically helped me stay alive and win the battle. Got the hang somewhat of the Naval Part...upgrade Hull and got three Lieutenants. I just like getting out and sailing....plus I've actually got some pretty good pieces though just Level 12. I am stuck on one Bounty/Mission...eliminate like 10 Bandit Camps. I've only found five and there's none in the region I'm in, none seen in either side. All I see are soldiers and soldiers for hire. I've done some with "Thugs" listed but it's not counting.
Starting to get more ability choices and hard to figure out which to go for...like in Origins, boost in weapons and armor is a must. I use the Poison + Buff a lot, the 20% Health boost, Devastating Arrow Shot and just got Hero Strike which is like using assassination in battle. Not sure about the stun ability or how useful getting a Tamed Wolf would be...though able to call a Lieutenant to your side for 30 seconds sounds tempting.

When do you get the option of crafting other Arrows...poison, fire, etc....I've had the same quiver for ages...a Blue One....and still only see the slot for Wooden Arrows, all the other slots are locked, I'm Level 27 and have unlocked several Hunter Abilities and upgraded Arrow Damage yet I still have no-way of making other Arrows. For now I have to initiate the Poison and Fire Ability to get it.

I'll be darn....I've bypassed that skill countless times because I thought it was just a "Knock-out Arrow"...which I was doing via Assassination when I get either knock out or assassinate choice......I didn't know it lead to the other Arrows...good grief....I've just hit "Poison Ability", then switch to Bow and fired and getting some Poison Damage but now wonder if the Arrows will give more or about the same?
