If they think I'm going to pre-order another Just Cause game after the debacle that was JC3 they're smoking something good. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's good as JC2 was a stellar game but no way am I going to be a day one sucker.

I highly anticipated JC3 only to be massively let down. This looks like they have taken those failures to heart and righted many wrongs. They had a great game to build upon with JC2 and this looks its exactly what they have done. Even after the mess of JC3 i will be getting this day one.

As seemingly the one and only person on the forum who loved the hell out of Just Cause 3, I'm excited. I preordered a copy for my kid sister as a Christmas gift (which I'm sure will basically be an inconvenient gift card when she returns it), and it's near the top of my Christmas list.

I also really liked JC3, but then again, I also really liked Assassin's Creed III which also the majority hated for some reason.

I've pre-ordered this but, geezus, I have RDR2, Spider-Man and BLOPS4 all on my to-do list. This game would really benefit from coming out later.

I am so excited for this game. I LOVE JC3 and it is one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. I still throw it in every once and a while to just fool around in the world. SO much fun. This is my most anticipated game of the year.

I am starting to get super excited for this now. Each trailer has made it look like a return to form and the true sequel to JC2 that was always wanted. It would have been nice for them to do a remaster of that game to go in hand with this one. I have most of next week free, so this is gonna get some serious play. Pre-ordered the Gold Edition and feeling more positive that this will be a blast from start to finish.

I preordered this on like the last day amazon was honoring their preorder discount, back in August or so, and I think I'll let it ride and give it a try. Really hoping for the best. I could use some serious action in a game to balance out my RDR experience.

JC3 was underwhelming. I got bored with it. I have too much on my plate right now but I’ll pick it up if the reviews are good and when it’s $30.

Yeah, add me to the list of those who loved JC2, but being completely disappointed with JC3 - I even finished it, playing only in hopes of it getting better somehow - it never did.

Hopefully they ditched the multiplayer aspects, and built the game world focusing on a single-player experience like JC2.

But yeah, not buying this until reviews and public opinion is in.

I unfortunately had to add him to my ignore list. It was the only way to get rid of the huge photos and videos he always posted that was always fucking up the way the page would load for me.

And FWIW, the same development team behind JC3 did this one. The creators of JC2 are working on Rage 2.

Reviews drop tomorrow, but people who got the game early are saying mostly positive things.

My hunch is that it'll be better than 3 (difficult to not be better), but not as great as 2.

Well I can't entirely blame the team behind JC3 as it was the heads who made the decision to make the game online and have micro transactions only to change their mind last second. At that point it was impossible to release a well crafted stand alone game before release.

I am very curious to see how this one comes out.

I heard the grapple stuff was much improved. That’s a plus. I’m guessing it gets a 7.3-7.5 from IGN and maybe a 6 from Gamespot.

The early reviews are reminding me a great deal of the reviews for JC2. Very mixed bunch with some enjoying, whilst as many not caring for it. Judging by the positive it sounds like I am safe with my purchase. The people complaining don't seem to understand that this series of games has little depth and is all about action, messing around and blowing shit up. This will not be a game with any depth or incredible storyline. And that's fine with me.

Word is that the graphics/textures are ROUGH, like, worse than JC2 graphics - like, they had to make a tone of graphical compromises on consoles in order to get it to run a solid 30fps.

After being spoiled by Red Dead and Ass Creed open world games, seems like this might disappoint graphically.

Reviews seem to indicate what I anticipated, not a great deal of difference but fun all the same. I have heard people complaining about the graphics quality on the cut scenes, but not as much through the actual game. Let's see. As long as it's fun and close to JC2 then I will be happy.

I will let you know tonight how it is. I get the feeling if you liked JC2 then if you have nothing to play at the moment it might be a good option. Having said that, i am pretty sure the price will drop in the coming months and for many the best option will be to wait.

Yeah, sounds like they definitely rushed it to market before it was ready, needing to get it out for Christmas, as this is the latest you'd want to release a game for "the holidays".

Think I'm gonna wait for some update patches before I start.

Sounds like a good time to finally start JC3 :lol:

A couple reviews in progress. Doesn't sound too promising:

PC world - Between the technical issues, the drab story, and the baffling mission structure though I’m feeling pretty disappointed so far. I didn’t necessarily want Just Cause 4 to be more of the same, but I don’t think this new direction works very well either—not to mention it feels like the game needed another few months of development. We’ll keep you updated if anything significant changes between now and release, but at the moment this one’s hard to recommend.

Polygon - But having just spent weeks playing in seriously detailed worlds like Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man 2 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, I find this world to be slightly lifeless and plasticky, an obvious simulation, rather than a carefully weaved place. It lacks the finesse of sophisticated late-console generation rivals.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun - I’m just at a loss as to how this has happened. Just Causes have been buggy, sure. But they’ve never felt at least six months from finished. I cannot fathom how this wasn’t lengthily delayed, because it’s in such a dismal state. Although that said, even if the bugs and AI were fixed, it would still leave behind a version of Just Cause that barely changes anything you actually do since the third edition, yet has made every aspect of doing it so astronomically more annoying. What went wrong? How did such an established and entertaining series end up in such a quagmire?

So glad I'm renting from Gamefly and not buying. I learned my lesson after spending $60 on a digital copy of JC3 before it launched.

I knew these comparisons were going to be made but I don't necessarily think they're fair. I haven't played the game, but I doubt JC4 was going for even a fraction of the immersion these other games were. The Just Cause games always felt more like sandbox tech demos for players to mess around in, and for the devs to show off their software capabilities. They always come across as more of a simulation -- that's what they're supposed to do.

I think it's a somewhat fair comparison with other open world games. Wouldn't you also want some advancement between games? If it hasn't evolved much since JC3, then what's the point of it existing?

I remember the outcry with JC3 because of the unstable frame rate and long load times. Hopefully they at least addressed some of those issues this time around. I'm also curious how the XB1X version performs compared to the other versions.

Eh, I think it's like comparing something like Burnout to Forza or Gran Turismo. Sure, they're all driving games, but one is more hardcore and detailed, and the other is more arcade like. Two different animals.
