With the exception of the one jump that was talked about earlier in this thread, it doesn't. And certainly not enough to say the game sucks.

yup. and it's too bad too bc i loved the shit out of 2016 and played it right before new one, but this pales so much in comparison. it's too bad, but oh well. i haven't bought too many out right stinkers in my life, but this is no walk in the park where the birds are chirping and the kids (while not quarantined) are playing gleefully amongst the foliage. just sucks the fun out of FPSing...

I've definitely become used to the platforming part. The huge battles remain tiresome, however.

I'm on Nekravol, so it looks like I've got 4 levels to go.

I've knocked out my first 100% playthrough (though I did have the weapon mastery cheevo glitch out on me) and I'm working my way through the Extra Life mode now and am having a blast. I've really enjoyed the game as an extension of what Doom 2016 laid out gameplay wise. For me at least, the changes have all been about rounding out my playstyle and making me not depend on any one method or weapon to beat the big battles (other than the mantra of "rip and tear").

Congrats. 100% is hard as balls on some games. I may not even finish this. Probably will. But only one I got and will ever get 100% was on Red Dead 1. It was tough and by the end I was done. I couldn’t even get back to trying again on One when it came bc on that. I was burnt.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

Completed it today! Great fucking game even with its added bullshit. Lost 8 lives to Khan Maykr. For some reason with 2 bars left on her, it wouldn't let me Blood Punch. And the final boss, I lost my 4 lives and died a couple times after that. Then it asked me if I wanted Suit with defense. So yeah I accepted, beat it first attempt

The Master All Weapon Mods achievement glitched on me. I've unlocked every perk, but the milestones screen says I'm 1/2 for hard cannon and 12/13 overall, which is a bunch of

On to DOOM 64

I finished it tonight, as well. I had to finish it because I was sick of playing it. It was just way too repetitive.

The last fight was very cool, but there's no way I would've played it long enough to finish, without the Sentinel Armour. I think it would've been 'rage uninstalled' before that point.

So, I really dig this game (didnt care for doom 2016 at all, surprised at how lame it was) but I get so bored, I'm having a hard time with those turret demons. You seem like a real pansy in this one compared to doom 2016 where your almost invincible.

Oh well, at least I tried it.

I wouldn't say hate, it's not like it's a shitty game or anything. It was just tame compared to Eternal and little note boring.

They're just not my type of game.

I've been having more fun, replaying the missions to find all the secrets. Still only have 16/33 achievements, though. Of course, a number of the missing ones are for multi-player stuff, so that's not going to happen.

The multiplayer in this game is the worst multiplayer in any game ever. At least for me. Its not even satisfying if/when you win.

It seems like 99% of the games today include some type of multiplayer mode, but it really doesn't work in games like this.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

eh, i went back to this. i'm getting the hang of it and giving into the puzzle/platforming elements. some of those 1up's are a bitch to get. but the core killing lots in short amount of time seems to remain exactly the same. even same enemies for the most part thus far. i like the little tutorials about the enemy weak points and which weapons to use on which enemies. those are actually helpful. changing my weapon select button was right thing to do. i guess embrace the change. at least that's how i feel today...

You guys way oversold the difficulty of the platforming in this game. I don't think a single jump in this game took me more than 3 tries. I kept playing through levels expecting the next one to be the one you guys were talking about and then I was at end credits. Overall a fun sequel although doesn't have the surprise factor that the original did. I got 100% of all the collectibles just didn't complete some of the challenges.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

getting back into this now. i'm not as eager as with first, but getting used to mechanics and crazy platforming elements. you really have to be smart and think about what weapons to use and when and how and what mod on which beastie. when to get armor with a belch or ammo with chainsaw. when to use blood punch. still gets my heart pumping in those crazy enemy parts which is very prevalent thankfully. the tutorials on each is great asset. so, i'll finish. won't be as good as first, but i think it is getting more decent as it goes along. the 3rd one will have it all and be better in every way. that i can't wait for...

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

Ok so, I shot 2016 back in and actually really like it - the camera makes me sick but it's a pretty fun game. The multi-player while setup exactly like call of duty is still fun and feels fresh - I also like that you can build you own levels for people to play through as a team. Very cool.

Eternal though, wow, what a mess - beautiful game, controls nicely, nice sound, but just way too damn hard - even on the i'm too young to die setting - listen, I'm not a gamer, I just love video games for the atmosphere and design. Most of you die hards may think it's a breeze and that's fine but I know a lot of people like me who just aren't having it. What a shame to because this is one of those areas where they will most likely not fix it - to be honest, I'm VERY surprised they made it this way as a lot of casuals like myself will just walk away from it and not come back.

Even the multiplayer is lame - one mode, one vs 2 players - don't get me wrong, the mode is cool and all but it's all you get - they made big mis-step with eternal. Also, even if the game was easier, it's just not that fun overall.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

Ok, so I took another shot at this and figured out how to play. I didn't know there was a system (i.e. chainsaw = more ammo, glory kills = recovery, etc....) and once you get passed the first few introductory level, you start unlocking a ton of stuff. But still, for a game like this it feels out of place - I'm constantly having to be careful while I'll play and it feels weird for the type of game this is - DOOM 2016 is not like this and I feel it works better.

I replayed DOOM 2016 last week, how simple it was. Love both of them.

I took a couple day break from this and played through Nier Automata, now I'm back and forgot half of special attribute aspects but at least the levels, as weirdly structured as they are, are fairly straight forward.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

I've got one mission challenge to go (left side glory kill on a Doom Hunter), and all items and challenges will be complete.

Of course, IIRC, the Doom Hunter doesn't appear until the end of the mission with that challenge.

Last time I played the mission, I actually had him ready for the glory kill, but I think he was rotating, and I missed the left side. Now I'm wondering if I could've just loaded the last checkpoint and played the last battle, again?

I'm at 22/33 achievements, but there are a bunch I'll never get for battlemode.

You are correct on both. The Doom Hunter is in the last big battle of that level. And if you miss your glory kill you can just reload the checkpoint and try again and not really have to grind through the whole level again.
