Jurassic World Alive (iOS, Android)
 

A Jurassic World game in the vein of Pokémon Go ... anybody else playing? I’ve been playing it casually for a few weeks and like it so far.

Instead of throwing Pokeballs you pilot a drone to capture dinosaur DNA until you have enough to create that dino. Eventually you level up enough and can start cross breeding your creatures to create new types.

Pros: Better battle mechanics than Pokémon Go (you don’t have to go to specific sites, so gameplay can happen anywhere). While some dinosaurs are “special events” it does not seem that your location locks you out of ever seeing/capturing certain creatures. The “special events” for dinosaurs are every day and typically in any local park. Some special event supply drops occur at retail locations (Walmart, movie theaters, etc.), but those only give you quantity — no special advantages.

Cons: I did like the Pokémon Go feature that made you get out and walk; nothing like that here. Plenty of opportunities to spend on in-game purchases (though they are not necessary).

I like how those people were delighted to see an angry velociraptor a few feet away from them.
