gotcha. thanks. i knew it was powerful, but just takes too long to charge and shoot and if you miss you're fucked. i guess i'll see as i keep going. starting to get harder with harder Hiss stuff. which is great.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

holy f bomb was that Salvador boss fight a bitch.

i must have died literally 50-60 times before i figured out a way to get him. get all the henchman first, have some seized and fight for me, hide in corner, i was behind a banister or something and he was right in front of me for like 5 minutes, conjuring up his debris but didn't touch me. when he came down from the conjuring i juiced up the Pierce gun, got in one shot, rinse, repeat a few times and he was mine.

i don't think i ever died that many times on a boss fight, ever. phew!

now, i got that levitate and freaking love it. this game just gets better and better and really could be a sequel since all these objects of power are found all over the place in world. i am sure they could put together another Old House or something and do a sequel. i really don't want this to end. still have, i think 4 missions, and then the DLC so it'll be some time before over, but man am i having a blast thus far.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

Yeah, the game def ramps up the difficulty around there, kinda caught me off guard as the game until then is fairly easy. The DLC keeps the difficulty level a bit higher as well, though nothing crazy so far.

Despite the somewhat repetitious nature of the game, it is one of the most fun titles I've played this year. The combo of atmosphere + craziness with fun gameplay needs to happen more often.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

I can see where you’re coming from with repetition, at least first 5 missions. I have 5 to go plus DLC, so hope to be entrenched at least through this year, though want to try Cyberpunk when it out in Nov. But it did ramp up nice and breezy as it went along. And I swear I’ve only completed 1. Count it 1 of this kill Hiss node bulletins. I always get killed bc I just go in haphazardly. Completed only 1 and have no idea what it gave me.

But, as you said Rich it’s just a hell of a lot of fun and if you buy into story or at least understand it even a minutia, it’s a total blast. I just got levitate other day and haven’t played in 2 days since so haven’t even tried it out yet except completing Astral plane that comes right after get, but I’m so looking forward. It’s like I jones this game and I love when I can thoroughly enjoy and truly look forward to playing a game.

And there are just so many different locations that open up. Yes, pretty similar, but always new places to explore and find stuff. Yes, there’s backtracking, but the fact that enemies can respawn in same locations all the time, it just makes it that much better and keeps you on your toes. Those screeching beasties that blow up with any little hit are the freakiest. But, I love that I upgraded launch so I can catch and launch beasties or other hiss with low health and fling them at others. And catching and launching back grenades and rockets is awesome as well.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

The boss’ in this are insane. First Salvador, then The Former. Sakes alive this gets tough. And The Former was a side mission for goodness sakes. Did I have to do it anyway? Not that I wouldn’t because I want to do everything in this game. Even got a 60 point or whatever achievement for picking up so many documents and stuff and happy to say read and heard them all.

The Former was easier than the former (see what I did there?), but still was tough because I never could see the holes in floor when it creates them. I actually died the second after I killed Former. I saw achievement pop up and then fell through a hole. I was so worried I wouldn’t get credit, but since achievement popped up, was pretty certain get credit and just lose source and start from last control point. Thankfully there was nothing to worry about.

I’m losing a shit ton of source though and can’t craft a gun beyond my 4 (grip, shatter, spin, Pierce). I could do charge but not enough source. Is charge gun good? Kinda like Pierce? which I’m really not fond of at all. Spin is good and fast, but not enough damage yet. I just finished Fifth mission so hope I still got a while, but it really ramps up from Salvador fight. But absolutely having a blast. And that I can do a tough mission and put it down for next day is a pleasure. That pick up and play type game, but still progressing story. Love that aspect.

I missed the Former mission entirely haha, I wonder if I can go back and fight em. I finished up The Foundation DLC and am about half way through the AWE one.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

Probably like 22 hours. About 15 on the main game, 5 on Foundation and 2 on AWE so far.

Steam keeps track but left it paused one night so it's at like 50 hours.

You can go back and redo all missions once completed, so I’m sure you go to that mission and side should pop up, no?

And, is there a way to track how long played on console?

How are DLCs’?

22 hours and then some for DLCs is like a lifetime for me. That’s awesome!!! Though I do want to get some FPS with Crysis remastered in, but the Hiss have me. I gots no HRA!

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

I don't think there's a timer on the consoles.

AWE so far is cool, its a side quest like the other boss battle ones - just a little more involved and longer and with the obvious guest star.

Foundation DLC is solid as well, it's an actual continuation to the main story.

Edit: They just patched this on PC to work at 8K with DLSS (You have to run the game at 1440p to achieve 8K), all while I rock out at my taxing 1080p

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

Wow. Certainly no shortage of boss fights as you get to Mission 5 (Brother’s Keeper, I think). Most were side missions. But already fought Salvador, The Former and the Anchor and now got to fight The Former again I believe, going for one of the altered items in Langston’s side missions. Did 4, now 3 to go. I’d have so much source if I didn’t die so much and can’t even restart at certain checkpoint, not that I would just having real troubles with these bosses, but hardly mind because I die 50 times, eventually I learn and have a blast doing it. Just takes a bit. Doesn’t help that loading each save when you die takes a legit 50 seconds or so. I can only imagine what will come next. But can’t freaking wait!

Yeah, you're doing it in the right order at least. I finished the AWE DLC and decided to go back and pick up a few fights I'd missed. I'm way over powered now and it's sort of taking any challenge out of it.

Probably 3 or 4 hours. The last few missions flow together pretty well.

well, little sad about that. thank goodness i play in small-ish chunks, but from what you say about DLC, seems like i got 3-4 in main and then 7 more with DLC, so i'll be playing for awhile. and i've been doing all the sides, all the Langston stuff which is a lot (thank god for fast travel), and all...

then, thinking of playing Alan Wake and it's DLC, American Nightmare since seem to be in same universe and all and i did like the playing i did way back, only few minutes though, before i got distracted and played something else...

I wish I could hold off on this and utilize Series X. The boss fights that have me dying often, the load times between saved games is ridiculous.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

Holy shit, this second The Former encounter kicked my ass yet again. These things are difficult even though I know what to do. Get so close so often. But, slowly but steadily. get it done. Specific mods and guns and stuff really does make a difference. Great finding the right combo. Like Former is all about energy and launch. Salvador was sheer power. Just great and so unique this little rpg-ish thing they got. Also this second encounter was 3rd time I killed boss and then died seconds after, Former falling through floor, obviously, but saw him flailing about, no achievement which I was nervous about, but died and still got the credit. Thank god! I lost source, but finally beat. So satisfying.

Its all about that multi-launch ability. Simplifies everything.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

What’s that? Something you get with ability points at Control Points? I know I can launch 1 baddie back at other baddies. And catch and throwback rockets and grenades. But I don’t know exactly what the ability points are best used for. More levitate, fast seize (is this pretty useless anyway?), more energy, nite launch ability? I can do the levitate ground slam now, which oddly I haven’t even used yet. Guess with so many buttons and different abilities, just forgot about that one.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

It was the last ability in the launch column, apparently it's from AWE, or something like that. It just lets you lift three things and throw them at single or multiple enemies at the same time.

I maxed out life, energy and the launch strength + launch enemies. Then threw a few into shield and levitate. I dont use the Seize function or punch much

you mean you can only get it/opens up while playing AWE dlc? No point in building launch yet? There’s so much other great stuff, but if multi-launch good, then I’ll try for it. I better get some good Ability points for doing these Langston altered items side missions, since there’s 7. Finally did Flamingo thanks to that second Former. Gonna get rubber ducky (making 6/7) and then go see bro and finish Langston after. Me and Dylan got lots of reminiscing to do...

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

I keep getting this game breaking error when I play Control. Sometimes I can save before, but this case I couldn’t. Haven’t tried another game bc I want to play Control, but I did factory reset. That seemed to work for awhile. Was getting once a day. Since reset maybe week ago or so, this is first. Wtf is going on? Pissing crap out of me. I’m not waiting till mid November to finish this...
