Not trying to be a smart ass. We genuinely don't know.

Not necessarily...
Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition ended up including two copies of the game (original and DE) and the game saves did not carry over. It's entirely possible that Control could be similar. We don't know, hence my reply to Oldboy. He'll be th first on this forum to bother, it seems, so we'll find out when he buys it and downloads it.

that is what i figured because as long as i don't delete the save slot in the memory i should be fine. i was thinking to just unistall disc version and then download the digital from scratch and just unintall the game, but not save slot.

When you delete a game, you donít delete the save file. That is stored separately and requires its own deletion. And even then, there is a cloud back up as well, as long as you have Live Gold membership.

yes, that's what i meant. just said it in my usual peculiar, nonsensical way. i will just delete game and keep save and then redownload the digital and i should be good to go. thanks Deck, maybe Dan too

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

You can buy the UE now and yes everything stays in tact. Took 5 seconds to download everything which I’m not with sure why since the expansions should have taken some time, but started right up exactly where I left off.

So, I guess you can’t access expansions until game over, is that correct? Because no option to play expansions so I figured it won’t show up till finished...

The fact that thereís a emoji in the middle of your link above feels weirdly appropriate.

I need to get back to this game but wonít buy the DLC or the UE until thereís a sale because I really hated the way they rolled this upgrade thing out (and I wonít be getting an XSX for at least a year or more).

i wish i could take credit for the emoji, but i guess the link produced it. anyway, i think $40 for all that you're getting is a pretty great deal. do you think it would go lower, especially since it really is just going to be a Series X title at launch?

fuck, reading about the expansions makes me think i should have played Alan Wake and it's expansion (which i do have) before. fuck me. am i gonna be lost bc i haven't played AW and finish Control and then move on to its' expansions, especially AWE? (which yes, now i know what you guys were talking about many posts prior.) sheesh! and my bad.

No, you'll be fine. They give a full reintroduction from what I understand.

I liked Alan Wake more than Control (as far as I've gotten in Control). It's just a cool Stephen King style story to play through. Probably a little dated in gameplay now, but was a really engrossing game in its day.

They most definitely do not give a full reintroduction. I've played through Alan Wake and American Nightmare twice and I had no idea what was going on or what they were talking about the majority of the time. But to be fair that's how I felt throughout the majority of Control (not in a bad way).

I didn't even realize the major knowledge bombs that this Alan Wake DLC dropped in regards to Control as a whole and Remedy's next game until I read some articles about the DLC after I finished it.

To be fair they do go this is Alan Wake and he is a writer and give a little backstory that way but they don't do a recap of what happened in those games which meant I had no idea how Alan Wake was left at the end so when they started showing stuff I was like I don't know what any of this means. Control is trying to be Twin Peaks so it works in that way where you don't quite understand everything but you go along anyways.

Yeah I read they basically confirmed Control, Max Payne, Alan Wake and Quantum Break occupy the same universe, but since they only control Alan Wake and Control will be going down that rabbit hole instead.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

so a bunch of people who own the Digital Deluxe edition were surprised to find out that they were magically "up"-graded to the Ultimate Edition with no additional downloads/updates required (proving that the bits are identical), only to have it revoked a few hours later. This, from the company that said it was impossible to offer this kind of path to existing owners of the game.
Oh, and they're still offering the "standard" edition for $60, next to the UE for $40. Super awesome.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

i gotta say this game is just so much fun. even though i die, a lot, there is just something so satisfying by shooting or launching objects, usually both at all these Hiss soldiers and other nasties. using these mods to get more powerful, the different types of guns. just everything about it clicks. never thought i would get into it, truthfully, so fast. i was playing and finishing Doom: Eternal and was quite enjoying the second half, but just popped this in on a lark and it stuck so quickly for me. of course, i barely understand what's going on, but i don't even care. i do read everything, despite earlier posts, but still so bizarre and weird all of it, but i don't care. just a ton o fun.

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

as much as i'm loving this game, some of these puzzles are mind boggling difficult with seemingly no hints as to how to figure out the puzzle.

i've been reading everything, but i found a little mission where i had to go through the Oceanview Motel. how was i supposed to know i had to ring the bell once to open the first door, then ring it again to open the second door and put everything in the second room exactly as it was in first room thus opening the third room that gave me prism key to open door near the entrance? i had to use YouTube. i didn't read or see any indications of what i was supposed to do.

another was starting Darling's HRA machine by using the five cards and put them in the 5 correct terminals. i saw the white boards in 3 places with the shapes, but couldn't figure out which goes where until again, i used YouTube.

am i wrong? are there clues to how to solve some of these in-game that i am missing? i mean i know they must be in the game and you shouldn't have to use any other sources, but damned if i could figure it out.

as i said, still loving, but these things get so frustrating when i don't see anything in-game to solve them...

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

They're typical adventure game style puzzles, though nothing compared to the difficulty of something like The Longest Journey.

There are occasional tips for the Oceanview Motel, "Law of Threes" comes during one of the visits. It took me a few minutes to catch on to the doors opening the first time, but they were kind enough to make only three elements really interactive (light switch, the locked prism room, and the bell), I skipped the clocks one.

The HRA one they tell you the instructions via the dialog, but you do have to notice the tape on the side of the consoles and read the boards, they were really clear on PC not sure how clear they are on the Xbox One/PS4.

And why does Jesse keep touching her shoulder as if hurt when just standing around? Thanks Rich.

Enjoyed this one a lot, will probably give the DLC a whirl after a short break. The last quarter of it was particularly memorable. Plot kind of reminded me of Indigo Prophecy a little, but distinct in its own way.

Also weirdly she doesn't touch her shoulder in the copy I'm playing.

Really? She does it all the time. Her right. I figured it’s bc of all the launching and stuff. That is weird...

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

Hey Rich...whatís the point of the Pierce gun? It seems very powerful, but with the charge you have to wait for, I find it useless when swarmed by Hiss and then can only get like 2 shots off before recharge. Did you use it? Can it get better/faster with mods? I just prefer shatter and spin for its rapid fire...

Re: Control (Remedy) - PC/PS4/XB1 - 8/27/2019

There are some enemies with strong shields that aren't easily damaged by bullets. So that gun comes into play.

it also deals more damage which may be preferable in some situations. And yeah, there are mods for it to speed up recharge.
