I’ve reached the halfway point. Holy hell this game just keeps getting better. One the powers open up the gameplay starts to feel like Infamous. Really good stuff here!

For anyone who has played some of the side quests...
There's one where you have to collect six "pouches" for Arish. This involves fighting off six mini-bosses. It sounds like a lot of people (myself included) are getting a bug where the last enemy never spawns, so you can't get the 6th pouch. There's no official fix yet, as far as I know, but I was able to complete the quest later on, AFTER completing the main story of the game.
So if you can't seem to complete that quest... now you know. Skip it and go back to it WAY later.

That is awesome. Maxing out your "Launch" skill tree is one of the smartest things to do early.

^ yup! It's especially satisfying when you're able to launch one of the exploding Hisses back at a batch of other enemies.

Remedy has released a roadmap of DLC release dates and a bit of info. Look very closely at the image for the last expansion...
Spoiler because it's a very large image.

I seen clips of the gameplay and it reminds me of Infamous. Is it similar to it?
It may be something that I need to buy when it drops in price.

I'm always looking for potential relatively-new-game bargains to grab on Black Friday. This is my #1 candidate.

Yes, the game essentially becomes Infamous meets the X-files with a dash of Twin Peaks. If you liked Infamous you'll love this.

I never got around to playing Infamous. I love this game, but I think its weirdness may not be for everybody.
The main story is good, but I think the side missions really add to the overall atmosphere, especially missions related to a flamingo or a fridge.
It's also a game with a LOT of collectibles that amount to memos, journals, audio recordings, etc. If you're not into that stuff, it can be a chore, but in this game, it gives everything more depth.

I just got this (first physical disc bought in years). Looks real good. Unique and good reviews and I like the exploration and finding things and side missions. Seem to be on a 3rd person kick lately. Weirdly. Never did, but do have Quantum Break. I know that wasn’t received too well...

Maybe it was due to everyone talking it up so much (expectations can be a bitch), but I found the game to be completely underwhelming.
Not "bad", per se, but not at all deserving of the accolades I had read from people about it.
A competent, but thoroughly mediocre game, IMO.

Man, fuck the Former in this game. Unless I’m missing something, there’s no way to position the camera to see both it and the sections of ground it’s knocked away. I’m on my second encounter with it and have probably died 30 times. I keep getting close, then falling into a hole it’s smacked into the ground. It’s about enough to get me to give up on a game I’ve loved except for these poorly designed fights.

I suck at skipping optional side bosses, so I just kept hammering away with different perk combos. Finally took the bastard down quickly by adding three damage multipliers to the standard gun. Go figure.
Finished the game last night and loved it all except for the previously mentioned gripe about falling deaths due to camera angles. I think most people didn’t really care for Quantum Break, though I really enjoyed it and its approach to mixing a game and live action. I felt like Control really nailed the evolution of that approach. It’s probably a minor thing to a lot of players, but having the videos feature the actors instead of their rendered characters upped the immersion for me. The story, characters and gameplay were all great. The ashtray maze was incredible, even if terribly easy. Basically an Escher painting come to life. I rarely revisit games when they drop dlc, but will likely do so for this one. And if they ever do a sequel, it’ll be a day one purchase.

^ Nice. Hopefully more folks give it a shot. I still think it's great, but I can understand why others don't feel the same. The DLC for this should be excellent.
Former was definitely one of the most frustrating bosses, but it was also one of the most satisfying to beat. Same for the underground beast.

Remedy is saying it is not coming to Game Pass, so I am wondering if Spencer wasn't supposed to say anything yet due to potential lost sales:
@ControlRemedy: The information about Control coming to Xbox Game Pass as reported on a recent Mixer stream is incorrect. We have no news or announcements regarding Xbox Game Pass at this time.
