Sounds like it is what I expected it to be. Time to roam a new wasteland.

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

I’m so torn and only few hours till I can cancel. No new reviews. I loved DOOM and this does look good from videos. What to do, what to do...

^ Buy it? Rent it? Wait until it goes on sale?

If you have a digital copy preordered, you should probably cancel now if you're worried. It's not like you will miss out on anything too major by cancelling, just a few minor bonuses.

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

I know, but actually kinda needed something like this after Borderlands, which I’m about to finish again. Want to get immersed in similar, but different world...

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

only 75% with 1 review for PS4, but sounds better and mostly optimistic, with biggest complaint being repetitiveness, just not liking the driving all around and racing part...

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

Here's two more....

Gameinformer...7/10... https://www.gameinformer.com/review/...nted-bloodbath

Games Radar...3/5... https://www.gamesradar.com/rage-2-review/

After reading both...and others...the consensus is awesome gameplay with guns and action, mechanics are fluid and fun....just everything around it is uninspiring, gets dull, short story (8-10 hours), lack of quest and sides....

Yeah, 8 to 10 hours is an easy commitment for a rental. Looks like I'll be grabbing this from the library.

Well...you are correct but as in the Games Radar Review, there's the ..."Where's the Side Missions?".....and after reading it, it appears you have these Towns/Bar areas where there's no-one to talk to nor hand out quests. A lot of games will have the Main Story but along the way you get branches off with side stuff, bounties, mini-quests and mini-missions...it doesn't sound like that's the case here or it's not nearly enough.

However....I saw this saying the Campaign/story will take around 10-12 hours on Normal, there's eight missions which you need to get to Level 5 with each of the Three Factions and can get the XP doing a lot of side stuff. To complete everything it says would take around 30+ Hours... https://heavy.com/games/2019/05/how-...ssions-rage-2/

And Gamespot Review Roundup...with 5/10 to 8/10.....https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ra.../1100-6466845/

I'm leaning towards not getting this now. I just started on DMC5 and love that, and playing Division 2 with my best friend. Just feels like this is something I can wait on for now and pick up cheap on Black Friday.

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

Give me a 30 hour Platinum with a varied map to explore and I'm in. Sounds better than the grind of clearing out everything in each region of Ghost Recon Wildlands. While that is a fun game, doing the same sort of thing in each area became tedious.

I was going to get this after the cool trailer but now it’s starting to remind me of the first game. The only thing I remember about that is Jesse playing it with a gun (which wasn’t possible) in Breaking Bad. I’ll wait til it’s $20.

yeah, but i think the fun in this is that each time you clear out an area you have new abilities and weapons and stuff. sounds like DOOM. go into a heavily populated area with baddies. all around. clean em out, die, huff and puff, finish. then look around and get some stuff. of course that wasn't deep or layered in any way as this seems to be, but i think the fun will be in the upgrades and weapons. hell, Borderlands is not deep in any way and really same thing over and over. scavenger hunt, help claptrap, get some stuff for somebody, kill a boss once in awhile, clean out bunch of baddies, but with different guns and newer abilities. i love the hell out of Borderlands (it was just so addicting, just running and gunning and not caring bc you had these killer weapons) and if this is more of the same with some different graphics and obviously different stuff, great.

Yeah, it seems to vary. Also says 50 for main and extras. Either way, they basically say nothing original, no real story, but gun play and action is fluid and great. Good for me. I hope to start it tomorrow...

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

This sounds like mix of Bulletstorm, DOOM, Borderlands rolled into 1. Loved all those. Borderlands not open-world, right?

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

Played this for a few hours last nigh.

It's really, really FUN! That is, when you're caught up in the action - because the open world aspect of the game really brings it down - going from location to location is pure dead play - boring and lifeless. Thankfully, the actual gunplay and action is really fun. This should've been a level-based game, and not an open world.
Also, the graphics look like smeared turd. I would've sacrificed half of the 60 frames per second for some better, higher resolution textures. The menus also suck. If you're on the fence, I'd wait for an update/patch.

Gameplay tip... the game is more fun the more powers you have, so hold off on the main missions (unless they involve upgrades) and focus on the Ark upgrades throughout the map first, which will make the gameplay more fun earlier. Oh, and the easy setting is WAY too easy - take it from someone who always plays easy as default. Bump it up to normal or higher for more intense action.

Re: RAGE 2: Xbox One / PS4 / PC

Played about 30 minutes. Didn’t do much. Cleared 1 roadblock. The gun play was fine. Pretty easy thus far on normal. But the navigating the inventory screens is so bad! Laggy and takes forever. It was tedious to go through. Even seeing map was different. I dunno, I guess I was expecting Borderlands or DOOM type gameplay and ease, but not so far and I don’t know how to get those deluxe exclusives. I guess I got to complete a mission to open it up? I mean I paid and yet I still have to work for it? I want that BFG but I have no fucking clue where to look except near meteor site of whatever name of that first little place where Lily is. It’s not bad, but not thus far exciting or giving me that urge that all previous games already mention gave...

This has been the biggest surprise to me based on everything I've seen/heard so far. I watched GiantBomb's quick look the other day and honestly couldn't believe the game looked so bad. Muddy and flat.
