Yeah, those guys who fly from the kites are wild. First time I kinda saw him coming and was able to avoid the hit. Although, I then quickly got gutted by his buddy behind me. lol

IMO the bull is really the first boss that drives home the fact that you can't rely on dodging in this game. Not that "blocking" fire is good physics but that's how it is.

I just chased him. Stayed behind him the entire time, and used Firecrackers when I needed health.

Oh, sad confession...I just last night learned that you could sprint by holding down the dash button. I don't know if I missed reading about it or completely forgot but I had no idea you could do that until last night.

Lol, it's alright, we were still getting basic tutorial info when Lady Butterfly fight started. I didn't know about quite a few things until the drunkard.

For the mini boss guy in the castle area who's outside making a speech with 4-5 other guys; is there any way to actually sneak for a quick deathblow? I know I can get behind them but they all "see" me and attack when I sneak out to try to get behind him. I'm assuming it's not possible and you gotta take him out normally?

Yeah! Hop on the roof top to his left (It'd be on your right), jump down and do a death from above style strike (reticle/dot will turn red as you get closer), I accidentally killed the guy to his left the first two times I tried. He's pretty simple after that.

Something about running around the roof tops while the kite guys charged me gave me a major nostalgia rush for some reason, I'm digging that.

Perfect! I didn't think to try to do a drop-down. I assumed that with the path to get behind him (them), I'd be able to do a sneak deathblow. Didn't try to kill him yet; spent about an hour just exploring the rooftops of the area. Cleared out the area near it too (Ravine?) that had a spear guy by a temple.

I'm not sure I've seen a temple yet, there is a guy that gives you something for killing a Samurai around there. I explored a bit and found two more of the Sculptor Idols in the area pretty quickly, was weird considering how far the other ones usually are.

The robed samurai are a pain in the ass.

Well, it probably wasn't a actual temple. A building by itself at the top of a small hill. There was one of those visions to click on it in and not much else. You can ledge hang to the left of it to come up from behind and get a quick deathblow on the spear guy, who has 2 health bars.

I think I found that guy also. In a dead-end corner near the beginning of the castle area I found a guy to talk to who gave me some items. Seemed like I had already done what he wanted. I don't recall what the item was though.

Took out the guy by the castle doors last night pretty easily once I was able to get the deathblow to start. Pretty annoying that the door doesn't open when you kill him!

The spear guy is still getting the better of me but I was super tired when I went back to him last night. He will die this weekend.

, I didn't get a chance to progress much yesterday, but I've got some free time this weekend

I just hate how quickly an hour goes by playing this game, dying a lot seems to do that.

Beat Lady Butterfly though

Nice!

I made a bit of progress but not too much this weekend. I'm at 3 bosses now. A guy with a bow in the castle who appears to be main story; an old guy in the castle who just kneels there until you go into the room, and some crazy spider dude who crawls around. Found him exploring outside the castle a bit. I'm guessing the guy with the bow should be my next target.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - (2019 From Software) PS4, Xbox One

My wife took the girls out of town this weekend so I picked this up and really threw myself right into it for a couple days straight. What a terrific game this is.

I have no idea where I am in the story. I just opened up a castle to explore, but got sidetracked by a couple mini bosses and haven't really gone much further inside. I also found my way to the abandoned dungeon and started exploring around there for a while.

I've been able to handle most bosses with little trouble - the bull, the guy on the horse - but these mini bosses are a real pain in the ass. I've had to just move on from a couple, which sucks because I know I will probably forget to go back .

I've been forcing myself to take out mini bosses as I find them rather than skip. Part of the reason I'm not very far in yet. The spear guy I took out recently was a giant pain in the ass, even though you could sneak/deathblow him to cut his life in half.

Yeah, I have the roof top plot guy and Snake Eyes in Sunken Valley to take on right now.

Snake Eyes is a dick.

I'm enjoying the "world" of this game more than I thought I would.

Yeah I'm having trouble with the spear counter. I have the skill unlocked but the timing is messing with me, and when I do land it I don't have time for any follow up attacks.

Thinking back he may be the only one I've skipped so far. Will go back today most likely.

Welp now I've got that storyline boss, snake eyes mini boss and a Metal Knight boss that takes no damage. Some cool interconnected places inside Ashina, the Shaolin monks oddly remind me of God of Cookery.

I'm still awful at this game.

Have you tried the axe attachment on the metal knight? Maybe it breaks his armor?

I did but maybe I missed? I actually think I need to
Spoiler:
make him fall to his death. The area he's in is kind of like a covered bridge, a very destructible one
but I haven't really tried yet.

Not sure I need spoiler tags but figured why not.

Am I able to get the umbrella at where we are in the game? I saw a video of someone destroying the old guy in blue who's in the castle and he used it.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - (2019 From Software) PS4, Xbox One

I ended up cheesing the Seven Ashina Spears mini boss. I must've tried 30+ times to get him the legit way, but even after getting the timing of the counter right and also learning his patterns, I was still making little progress. And it also felt like it took 10 seconds too long to make my way back to him from the closest shrine.

I've been good about not looking up as much as I usually do in these Souls games, so a quick boss guide here or there is fine with me.

How'd you cheese him? I tried to get him to fall off the edge a few times but couldn't do it. I'm sure I also had 30+ attempts before finally killing him.

I don't know how to embed YouTube, but this is what I did.

PS -- if anyone can explain how to embed video, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

LOL, you can just cheese him against the staircase? I never thought to try that through all my attempts.
