Trade one of many FPS games and get a $10 coupon towards a purchase of Battlefield V. Combined with the $10 pre-order credit and that makes the game + Steelbook for $40, $30 if you still have GCU.

Anyone playing this weekend with the EA
pass promo?

Started playing yesterday and enjoying the campaign a lot. As usually it looks phenomenal on my 4K OLED

BATTLEFIELD V - SINGLE-PLAYER REVIEW

7.3
GOOD
A strange focus on stealth makes Battlefield V's single-player campaigns miss opportunities for more of the large-scale warfare the series does best, but its stories are well told.

I played some MP... the spawn was ridiculous as I spent the majority of time running from some random spot to the action... only to be killed in 2.5s. I can't see getting this game at full price or even $30 at this point.

That's disappointing to hear. Might delay purchase. In the meantime, still active servers on Battlefield Bad Company 2, luckily...

I'm still really looking forward to this. The BF series has been my favorite multiplayer FPS since BF4, and I'll still fire up BF1 a couple times a year and go really hot and heavy with it for a week or two.

So far I’m really liking this, it does play different than BF1 but it’s still well made. Now you have to be more conservative in your play but you can live longer without being a medic.

Ouch. And the price drops begin, just a week after release. Down to $42 at Best Buy and $30 at Target. Sales must have really sucked over Black Friday.

Battlefield 4 was fantastic, so I'm not sure how they fumbled this one so bad. You would think that the free future map releases would help sales, but I guess not. Maybe it's because the battle royal mode wasn't ready at release?

Man, I don't hate this game, but I'm certainly not enjoying it very much.

With the death of GCU, there really is no reason to pre-order anymore. I paid $65 at Best Buy and now this! Thankfully they gave me $32 refund via their chat. But these price drops make a strong case against buying games digitally. You are completely locked in and screwed when you buy a digital copy.

If it means more people play it, that’s great, I think it is a great game and I love that there are no micro transactions and the game will be updated for free. No map packs or dlcs to purchase.

Re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

Bummed on the Target deal for me. Slipped in a purchase just before midnight on Monday for the 15% Cyber Monday deal for $51, plus used $20 gift cards to get it down to $31 plus tax. Then today, the $30 deal. Strangely couldn't do in-store pickup, only delivery so it will be here Friday.

I'd cancel the order if I thought I could get my gift card balances back and buy it in the store for $10 tonight!

Oooh, but I'm ok chat with Target right now. Will they let me cancel and get back my gift cards? Will they price match? Will ol' Spatch get back on the battlefield for a mere ten bucks?! Stay tuned!...

Well, I was told they'd price match for my order, nice! Haven't received my confirmation email, yet, but hoping I'm all set to get this game for ten bucks plus tax. Stay tuned!

Re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

Game shipped today, price match went through today, but gift cards neither applied nor refunded. Game should be $9.99 plus tax, instead it was $30 plus tax and my $20 of gift cards are lost. Chat says I have to call back tomorrow or talk to a chat "specialist" tomorrow. Frustrating.

But mark my words. I am getting this game for ten bucks. Stay tuned!

(Oh. How's the game? Fun? HMU on PS4.)

It's fun. Ignore the hyperbolic internet nonsense around it. Conquest is still a blast and different enough from BF1 to warrant it being a new title and not DLC to the last game.

I was ready to bite at Best Buy, $32 GCU w/ steelbook. But then I noticed that my local library is getting copies, so I'll stick to that for now and run through the campaign. Then I'll check back in once the battle royal mode launches.

Re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

I'm liking it so far. Although, I can't think of a Battlefield game that I don't like so I'm probably not the best judge. Conquest has been in all if them, and its pretty much more of the same in BFV, which isn't a bad thing. I do wish there were a little more variety with the weapons, but I'm sure that'll change once more maps and updates start rolling out.

I've only played maybe 30 rounds of multiplayer and I've already 2 matches that were decided by a single ticket remaining (ended 1-0), and another that had 2 tickets left (ended 2-0). Maybe it's the weapons, or maybe it's the way the maps are designed, but I have yet to have a match that was decidedly lopsided.

Re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

I'm enjoying it. A few minor gripes (like the underpowered Medic guns). But I'm sure those will all be fixed in recent updates.

One of the things I love about Battlefield, is the Devs really listen to the community and push out frequent updates that fix the problems. Battlefield One went through a lot of changes. And I'm sure Battlefield V will be the same.

Re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

I think I'm coming around on this one. I feel like the time to kill (to kill me specifically) is much much shorter in BFV, and most weapons are either underpowered or have a super slow rate of fire, and I was just getting wrecked every match. Also, this game is just a mess with ambient effects - snow blowing, embers, sand, etc. - that obscure things way too much. There are some maps that are unplayable for me.

But, I finally found a gun in the assault class that I like, the M1907 SF, and I'm pretty productive with it. Also, I love sneaking up on tanks and blowing them up with sticky dynamite. I've never been any good at anti vehicle combat in previous BF. It's so satisfying.

I also went in and turned most of the graphical settings down, which seems to have cleared up the visuals quite a bit.

I hear that the Devs are working on TTK. And they're also giving a boost to some of the underpowered weapons.

I completely agree about the ambient effects. I know graphics designers get excited about all the stuff they can add. But there's just too much noise on the screen. It's distracting and makes it much harder to spot enemies.

And the gift cards were applied. Got the game for $9.99 + tax. Game arrived, time to install it and not be able to play it for a few days because my weekend is so full. All RIGHT!

Supposedly, the losing team will cap flags faster at certain point in the match. The problem is the match can be close and the losing team can take the lead because they are capping faster. The devs said it's not working correctly and should only kick in if a team is getting throttled.
