Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

Supposedly, the losing team will cap flags faster at certain point in the match. The problem is the match can be close and the losing team can take the lead because they are capping faster. The devs said it's not working correctly and should only kick in if a team is getting throttled.

Re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)
I wonder if the lack of enthusiasm for this one is because WW2 looks a whole lot like WW1, in videogame form anyway. BFV doesn't really offer much in the way of new mechanics (other than squad spawn, which is good), and it shares a couple weapons with BF1. And I totally feel like a couple of these maps are reskins of BF1 maps. They probably aren't but damn they feel very familiar.
So why buy this when BF1 is still a very good game, and you can get it and all of its DLC for a fraction of the price.
Also, vaulting over objects or climbing over walls feels terrible. Half the time I'm standing in front of a fence smashing the space bar, hoping that eventually I'll climb over it before someone shoots me.
And reviving as the medic isn't great, either. I see the prompt to revive but unless I'm right in the sweet spot I end up just standing over my teammates body.
And why, when I'm going from one match to the next, does this game start me with a random class? Does this happen to anyone else? I can play an entire match as the assault class and this dumb game will put me in as a sniper at the start of the next one. Sometimes, I'll stay the same class, but my loadout has changed.
It's like for every one thing I like about this game, there's a handful of other things that are driving me up the wall.

BF series spawns have always driven me nuts. I hate having to spend so much time getting into the action.

EA is offering Battlefield 5 at 50% off for owners of previous games

That's a pretty good deal on the digital version considering Battlefield 1 was free on XB1 w/ GWG recently. So most people will have access to the discount.

I got this for $30 via Target last week. Loaded last night but not sure when I'll actually get to it. Blops 4 is starting to wear thin on me... so maybe this weekend.

I'm enjoying it on the same level I enjoyed Battlefield 1 which is to say it's beautiful, I enjoy popping in from time to time, the battles are fun, and I'm completely overwhelmed by the scope of the maps and the potential for class and weapon upgrades. I'll keep playing and enjoying it but I think Battlefield 4 may be the last great Battlefield game in terms of me feeling like I can actually have any level of mastery. That's of playing the game, not of winning.
For me, it still comes back to my first and favorite Battlefield experience, Battlefield Bad Company 2. There is a simplicity to the game that kept it - and still does keep it - infinitely playable for me while the complexity weighs BFV and BF1 down for me. Maybe that's also a difference between PS3 and PS4 generations.

One of my favorite BF games was Battlefield 1943. There was just 3 maps and 3 classes. It was so simple, and that's what made it great. Everyone had the same loadout. It just came down to strategy and ability.

Right? This level of gaming requires a time and energy investment I just don't have. Even if I was really, really into gaming and spent nearly all of my leisure time with it, I'd imagine I'd have a lot of games I'd want to play instead of just diving deep into this one. I'm sure those people exist, but not in the millions.

Finally rented this to play through the campaign and man is this game buggy as shit, at least on XB1. I've had it crash back to the dashboard, completely stop during cutscenes and continue loading, large gaps of audio missing, etc.
Now I can see why it was delayed and not really surprised that it didn't ship with the battle royal mode.

The team balancing on this game is awful. At least 80% of my games have been blowouts (winning team over 100). And probably 30% have been complete wipeouts (300+).
I'm not sure they're doing any team balancing at all. There doesn't seem to be any player shuffling between games. I've seen the same team get 4-5 blowouts in a row.

I blew through the campign, played two online matches, and immediately returned it to the library. I'll stick with Battlefield 4 if I feel the urge to play a Battlefield game.

If anyone gave up on this game, I suggest giving it another chance. They've made a lot of improvements. It's not perfect yet. But it's come a long way in the past 2 months.

I was really excited when they announced all expansion packs would be included in the base game. But the DLC rollout has been a major disappointment.
So far, there's only been 1 new map. The next map doesn't even come out until sometime in May. The recently announced plans only include 3 maps in the next 6-8 months. So basically, 4 DLC maps in the first year.

The Operation Metro map is finally available. I only played a few rounds, but it's a lot of fun. A total meatgrinder.

Just picked this up for $19.99 at BB. It's a shame it couldn't launch in this condition. The game is great now. Seems par for the course for BF titles this generation.

Looking forward to the new Pacific Theater, for the price paid and amount of boards, this game should and could have been over $100 release. I would like to see a board specifically with just motorized machines, either on the ground, in the air or on water.
