Wow, a week after release and still no talk on this one? That can't be a good sign for sales
Best Buy did call me after someone ended up canceling their order, so I ended up picking up a copy. But honestly with Spider Man now and Red Dead 2 next month, I have no idea when I'll end up playing it.

Started it so random thoughts. Loved the first two but this feels kinda flat so far. But I felt the same way about Uncharted 4. Maybe I have Tomb Raider fatigue... Lara has turned into a bitch (looks like she got implants so maybe there's a connection ) and Jonah is the sympathetic character. I'm good with less fighting and more puzzles/tomb raiding but you know what looks a lot like the Mexican jungle? The Peruvian jungle! Instead of wolves and bears you have to fight jaguars... meh... They've added some stuff like rappel to the platforming but I don't think it adds much to the game. There's a short backstory chapter which is cool.
I'm a slow gamer, but I've gone through the last two games in a couple of weeks. This one, I play an hour at a time and it's enough. I'll finish it but it's not a great game so far.
P.S. The classic outfits are hilarious:

I feel like this series has a history of bad release timing.
I finally finished Spider-Man, so i'll be starting this up this weekend.

I've been playing when I need a break from Spiderman, and it's a nice change of pace from that. Graphically it looks good, and I'm enjoying it as much as the last one. My only goal is to finish it before RDR.

I'm trying to decide between High Resolution and High Frame Rate modes on the XBox One X. Frame rate makes it sooooo smooth but with a large 4K HDR TV I feel like I should be taking advantage of the graphics quality.
Also, this game makes my One X louder then anything I can think of recently.

I guess you have to decide between the two on Forza Horizon 4 as well, correct?

And yeah, looks like Horizon 4 has the same options. Only a few games let you choose. For racing, I think frame rate would win out.

Pet Peeves in games: sections of the game that force you to slowly walk through areas
Something isn't really clicking so far in the game for me. It might be just me, but I feel like there's an over reliance on Survival Instincts to get crafting material and items, so I find myself constantly hitting it to make sure I don't miss anything which really slows down the game play. I know I could not use it as a crutch, but I can't help it since it's there.

Roping a guy up in a tree is great until you try to loot the body. Not to mention unless the guy was alone, you've just put up a giant "I'm here!" sign for others to see. A "fun but stupid!" feature!

This game also never resumes probably from a suspended state and kicks me back to the title screen every time. Annoying.

The price of this game continues to drop like a fucking rock. It's currently on sale on PSN for $30 regular and $35 deluxe. Even the Croft edition with the season pass is 50% off ($45). Can't be a good sign two months after release.

Yeah, it must have sold very poorly. It's a shame, it's a fine game. Coming out right after the mega-blockbuster Spider-Man must have hurt its PS4 sales. Too bad it didn't come out during the Summer when releases were few and far between.

Coincidently, I think i'm just about done in the game, reaching a point where I get a warning about not being able to turn back and fast travel if I continue with a mission.
I'm a huge fan of the rebooted Tomb Raider series, advocating a few times how I felt it was stronger then Uncharted in many areas like movement and combat. As I said back when it was released a few posts up, something still feels kind of off in the game. The story is mediocre as always, if not a bit of a step back from the previous games, and the "hub" areas that I liked in Rise just weren't clicking for me in this one and the crafting and resource hunting really felt like a chore that I didn't feel before.
There's been a few great cinematic moments, particularly a refinery and earthquake sequence, but for all the crafting/upgrading there doesn't feel like there's been many combat sequences to make weapon variety worthwhile. In fact, they seem few and fairly easy overall, with most of them a cinch via stealth on normal difficulty.
I'm having fun overall, but a step down from the Crystal Dynamics versions.

I was thinking about getting this on Black Friday since I've never played a Tomb Raider game before, but it sounds like I should start with Tomb Raider and then Rise of the Tomb Raider right? It seems like they are the better games and they're around $20 a game.

The first entry was the strongest of the three, so yeah I'd start with that one.

The first one is fantastic, one of my favorites of all-time and one of the few games I have actually played through multiple times. Definitely start there.

Finished the game tonight. Lackluster ending and an easy "boss" at the end, and not much of a desire to go back and finish collecting everything I missed or trying any of the DLC. Decent game, probably worth it at $30 and I hope it sells well enough to see more sequels in this reboot series.
