Cancelled my Amazon pre-order and went with it digital on Xbox thanks to $20 in Bing rewards points and buying some Xbox credit for 15% off. The frequent discounts on Xbox/MS credit makes going digital and losing the Amazon Prime discount easier. Hopefully I can beat Spider-Man in a week before this comes out :p

Reviews are out. Seems like a pretty big swing of opinion this time around with some loving it and others much more critical. Review copies also seem split between PS4 and Xbox One more then usual?

I have a Croft Edition Steelbook on pre-order but might just wait for the end of the year digital sale instead as I have a shit-ton of Xbox credit and can certainly wait on playing this as I just got Spider-Man last week.

Forgot : Does Best Buy give $10 GC with this preorder?

Edit : Yes it does. Switched my order from the "Croft Edition" to the standard limited Steelbook. No need to spend an extra $30 on a Season Pass at this point. I'm sure it will be discounted sometime in the future. For $40 (after Reward Zone Certificate), I will pick up the game in a Steelbook at launch.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was one of the better recent examples of the additional power behind the One X and how you can change the different settings, so I bet this is another great example. When I went back and played the DLC afterwards, I even commented in the other thread that it was almost like playing a different game at 60 FPS.

The review split is kind of odd on the Meta sites for this one.

The negative reviews from The Telegraph, Guardian and Gamespot reviews only show for the PS4, but the IGN one (a 9 out of 10) shows for both the Xbox and PS4.

I really liked the first one - Liked the second one too, but I didn't like how it went less linear and in a more "open world" sort of direction. I hope this one doesn't go further down that road.

I do prefer this new jungle setting to the last ones snowy mountains, so that's cool.

The DLC for this, or at least the way it's implemented seems lame. 7 additional tombs that they'll release piecemeal over time. I don't want to have to go back to the game and look around for one new tomb at a time long after I've already beaten the game. Either give me every tomb now, so I can hit them as I play through the game, or give me one big DLC later that takes place after the game. What they're doing here is lame!

I picked up the DLC for the last game once it was 75% off, and it was well worth it. I don't mind waiting again for this one.

I skipped on the fancier edition with DLC mostly because I feel like i'll be really busy with games and won't get to it anytime soon. I hope there's story content like there was for Rise though.

What was the DLC for the last game?
Because I got the PS4 version, which integrated all the extra content into the initial packaged game. Was it more than just tombs, outfits and gear? Because that's all they're giving you with this one, afaik.

I only played the Baba Yaga DLC, and I enjoyed it. I feel like it was more significant then just a tomb, as it was basically a small mission/area in the world. But I didn't play the other stuff though, as I think I bought Baba Yaga separately when it came out.

The DLC plan for this game includes mention of "narrative side mission" though, so I don't know how deep those actually would be.

The two main pieces of DLC was a couple hour story that took you through exploring Croft manor. It was actually pretty cool. And the other I'm a little fuzzy on, but remember exploring some tombs and fighting some weird boss while jumping on platforms. Then there were two smaller DLC packs. One took place again in Croft manor but was more like a horde mode thing, and the other was more of a survival game that took place outdoors.

Anyone playing this? Best Buy fucked up and didn't pull my preorder in time and was out of the steelbook by the time I got there today. Looks like they are sold out online too. Target also only had the regular edition.

I got my steelbook in the mail yesterday. Amazingly in perfect condition. I'm knee deep in God of War right now though so I won't be starting it for a bit.

That really sucks. I would be furious. That Limited Edition Steelbook was really limited - I went to BB at 4 on Friday and there were none on the shelves, lots of vanilla ones only. Fortunately I got mine. Not what I was expecting (not that picture of Lara - that is a slipcover. The actual Steelbook cover is some sort of gear puzzle I think), but it looks pretty cool.
They better give you a good discount on the purchase - $15-$20 off for the screw up. I hope you get it straightened out.
