I found and killed five Travelers and a Valkyrie today. There not so bad once you figure out that you need to be levelled up to beat them and the strategy to beating them.

You'll run into Travelers during one main quest The Magic Chisel. You can just run into them randomly too. I think Valkyries are optional.

You get the hang of it as it goes, you just need to upgrade your axe and armor (and thus your strength, defense and vitality).

That sounds doable. And, considering I’m not having trouble thus far or been frustrated. Sure, I’ve gone around in circles, but I manage to figure some stuff out. Not going for platinum or anything. But, finishing it this decade would be nice.

I’ve been running around and exploring. I’m probably about halfway through the main story and 75-80% through all the side quests. I’m really enjoying it now. This will probably be my last day getting to play until the new year. I’m either going to be out of town or working until January 1st.

Finished the narrative today (at a whopping 30%). Lot of bonus stuff to do, kind of crazy how small and intimate the game ultimately feels despite being reasonably large.

Either way, good stuff, glad I finally played this

You can return to any place in the game. If you get somewhere and are dying incessantly, it's likely that you are there too early. If a particular enemy is wasting you, you're probably taking him on too early. You can finish the story and hunt down the extra locations and enemies if you want.

Stay steady with your upgrades -- any time you get a slew of XP or money/resources, USE IT (especially the money/resources, pay close attention to the added stats). Also pay attention to the Enchantment Gems / Sockets as they can have a wildly positive effect on your stats.

Valkyries are fucking hard and totally optional.

Atreus's arrows are really strong, use them frequently.

I got home a little early coming back from Christmas vacation and played some more tonight. I took out two more Valkyries and went back and 100% a couple more areas. I'm only halfway through the main story, but I like to explore and 100% areas so I can gain experience and get a little overpowered for later sections.

Starts as a 7, shit kicked my ass early on, ends as a 4. I was a little surprised how easy it got.

Unless you go after Valkyries, they're hidden and a good challenge.

Sounds reasonable. Sometimes, I just have no idea what to do. I’m in a little area, not much but ruins around and I’m running in circles trying to find an O icon or something for a hint. A little unforgiving in those respects. Combat, I haven’t had a problem yet. I just started making light bridges and trying to get out of temple, wherever that is in game. I guess pretty early. I only fought one Ancient so far. Wasn’t too hard.

FWIW, it doesn't really try to trick you. Once you cross a light bridge you're generally where you're supposed to be.

Oh yeah I know exactly what you mean. It was a frustration I had with the game on my first attempt years ago.
