Since this is more than just a remaster, I figured it needed it's own thread. It looks like Bluepoint is putting a lot of work in this one, and I hope it pays off. IMO, fantastic game. Easily one of the best PS2 games released, so I'm excited to play the new version once it comes out in a couple months.

I can't wait. I've somehow gone all this time without ever playing it (other than the original demo). Day 1 buy, for sure.

One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had and can't wait to replay it on the PS4. Question is, should I upgrade my preorder? The Special Edition doesn't seem that great but that steelbox is :drool:

I locked in a preorder at Amazon just in case. It's been going in and out of stock, and I didn't want to be stuck without one. But as soon as it goes up at Best Buy, it's getting canceled.

Heads up, the SE is now getting a Prime discount. It wasn't before. I just canceled and re-ordered. Not sure if that's going to last or not.

I'll be picking up my copy tomorrow. It's funny, my wife and I were talking about this game over the weekend. She watched me play a bit on the PS2 when we first started dating. Now here we are, two remasters and 2 1/2 kids later and we are going to try and all sit down and play through it again. I'm really hoping it holds up. The original was in my top 10 games of all time.

Is it really that incomprehensible that people might be interested in a totally revamped version of a beloved classic video game?
Personally this is more appealing than the hundreds of "remastered " games we have gotten this generation that are just slightly improved ports. This looks like an entirely new game.

Amazon pre order should arrive today but I still have maybe 20 hours worth of Monster Hunter to play before I can dive in.

You also have to remember that there are people that play games now that might have been too young to play the original back on PS2 or even the HD version on PS3. And unlike most of the games on that list, this is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time and have been on top 10 lists for years now. Having a full remake (not just a remaster) is pretty damn cool for this type of game.

The PS3 version was more or less a direct port, this one fixes the shitty control issues that existed with the original, and I'm cool with that.

Picked up my copy at Best Buy. Glad I sprung for the Special Edition since they are going for $100+ on Amazon now.

I got an alert that my Special Edition from Best Buy had been delivered at 2:48 while I was sitting in my living room. I go outside and nothing. It's now 10:05 and I'm pretty sure it got delivered to another house.

Yeah, this remaster is completely gorgeous. I rarely care about such things, but the hair on the colossi is amazing.
