Aaron Judge selected for the cover of MLB: The Show 18.
 

Aaron Judge has been selected as the cover athlete for next spring's "MLB The Show 18," marking the first time that a player from the Yankees will have appeared on the cover of the prestigious video game franchise.

Judge hit 52 home runs this past season, breaking the previous rookie record held by Mark McGuire (49). He helped an overachieving Yankees team push the eventual World Series champion Astros to a seventh game in the American League Championship Series.

While he had 27 strikeouts in the postseason, he did hit three home runs in the ALCS and one in the Wild Card game.

Outside of last year's selection celebrating Ken Griffey Jr., the cover representative for the "MLB The Show" series has been fairly easy to predict.

Publisher SCEA has generally chosen young sluggers from playoff teams, but not from the two squads that reached the World Series.

Judge fits that model precisely, though doing so about a year or two earlier as a rookie than others from the past.

The meteoric rise of Judge could be tracked through his attributes in "MLB The Show 17," where he began his rookie season rated 68 Overall and ended as an 88 Overall.

His power ratings went from the 60s to the 90s by the end of the year.

"MLB The Show 18" will release on March 27, 2018 for PlayStation 4.

I haven't bought an MLB game since Yasiel Puig was on the cover of The Show. I just realized that MLB games take way too much time that I really don't have to fully enjoy them. I would feel guilty coughing up $60 for this and only playing it a handful of times. I think you have to be a pretty hardcore baseball fan to really enjoy these now.

I think 2015's edition was the last time I bought The Show. I'll be getting this one, especially since it's the season following the 'Stros WS title.

I read that the game is so real, Darvish actually tips his pitches!

Gotta admit, this game looks amazing. Can't say I'll get it on Day 1... only because getting thru a season of any sports game is impossible for me these days. If I was in high school or college, no-brainer Day 1.

They had me at "Mark DeRosa replaces Harold Reynolds in the booth". On one hand, Harold's commentary was true to form and very realistic, so they hit their mark on that, I suppose. On the other hand, "he's just as annoying in the game as he is in real life" probably isn't something to be proud of. I won't miss him droning on and on ("holy shit, that was 3 pitches ago, and he's STILL talking!")

We'll see if I finally have the willpower to not buy the Steelbook edition this year, knowing that the regular edition has had a Ubisoft-like sale price within a few weeks of its release the last few years

Online Franchise and MLB The Show 18.

For the online areas of the game, we spent this year focusing on our technology. We knew we had to prioritize the stability and speed of our online infrastructure for MLB The Show 18.

As such, Online Franchise mode didn’t make the cut this year. This was not an easy decision to make and we understand some of you will be disappointed with this change, but we believe focusing on continuing to improve our online performance was the right priority for The Show 18.

With the major technology change this year it wasn’t possible to just leave in the previous mode without alteration.

Please know that Online Franchise fans are not forgotten and every new year offers an opportunity to evaluate our plans. Thank you for understanding.

Anyone having trouble saving their Franchise progress in the game? The last two times I played it, my progress wasn't saved. Just wondering if it's happening to anyone else?
