Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (2/2/2024; PS5,PC,XSX)

Just a rumor right now, but there are reports are they are going to announce a Superman game next week, in the vein of the Batman games they did previously. Will be interested in seeing this.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/rockstea...ame-next-week/
Ever since they wrapped up the highly acclaimed ‘Arkham’ video game series with “Batman: Arkham Knight” in 2015, many have been wondering what Rocksteady Studios has been working on since.

There have been rumors that the company was looking into doing for the “Superman” franchise what ‘Arkham’ did for the “Batman” franchise, offering a massive scale AAA title set in the DC universe and a gameplay and tone that feels very true to the comic.

Well the flames of those rumors have been fanned this week as a 4chan posting indicates that Game Informer magazine is preparing to announce the game and feature it as the cover story of their December issue:

“Game Informer cover game will be revealed next week. It will be Rocksteady’s Superman game. The scale and the ambition of the game is massive, you all will be blown away by the details. Can’t wait to see your reaction, lads.”

How true this is remains unclear. What is known for sure is that Rocksteady has been working on something for well over a year now, a title they’re keen to reveal to the world even though the game won’t be ready for a while yet.

I can only hope this is true, as I would love to see a good Sueprman game. I'm kind of surprised though that they aren't doing a Justice League type game.

I wouldn’t be interested if it wasn’t Rocksteady. Not sure if I see this having the same appeal as the Arkham games. I’d rather get the TMNT game that was supposedly something they wanted to do.

This article lays out the problems that happened to the proposed Superman Returns videogame from years ago in development. It's a fun read highlighting the issues videogames have had translating Superman to the medium.

Everyone knew they were working on something DC related. I was actually expecting something with the JL.

Historically I have seen four major hurdles with Superman games.

1. Working in the Clark Kent persona.
2. Flying/Action/ Mechanics
3. A big enough sandbox. (Given his flight speed)
4. Working in his near invincibility.

Another knock against Superman is personally I don’t feel like he has a great group of villains to work with. You’ve got the big ones like Lex, Braniac, Bizarro, Zod. You could probably also throw in Doomsday. Batman has so many more interesting villains to work with. I feel like with Superman there’s room for one good game but it’ll be hard to make this a franchise like the Arkham games.

He has a ton of great villains to work with but they are 'criminally' underused outside of the comics.

I immediately suspect Toyman will take Riddler's equivalent place.

I just think his villains for the most part aren’t as memorable. Like with Batman you have B list villains who are as good as his main villains.

The one thing the Returns game did right, was making Metropolis itself the health bar. Superman cant be hurt but the city and civilians can. I thought that was cool.

In response to the 4chan rumors, Game Informer says that their next cover is not of Superman and does not involve a Rocksteady game.

I think that to have a Superman game worthwhile, it will have to do with Metropolis being invaded by Apokolips. Have Superman work together reluctantly with Luthor. Toyman takes the Riddlers place like it has been mentioned here. Have Darkseid "dome" Metropolis to use it as an excuse as to why other heroes can't help. Have side heroes like Steel, Gangbuster and the Guardian show up and maybe have small missions/DLCs. Have Maggie Sawyer and Dan Turpin take James Gordon place.

The other hero Rocksteady could use is the Flash. Similar scenario of great villains and allies.

I would go in a much different direction. Have Jimmy Olsen down some concoction that turns him into a rampaging monster. Superman must save Metropolis from Jimmy's attack. We find out that Luthor was behind Jimmy's transformation. It all comes to a head in an epic boss battle with purple battle suit Lex outside of Smallville.

You also give Lois Lane a role. Have her perform some investigative work linking Lex Luthor's companies to the problems Superman faces in Metropolis.

Pretty sure thats a screen shot from Injustice.

And if Hulk on PS2 can do collapsible buildings, no reason this couldn't.

I hope this happens. And if it's awesome, maybe it'll bring some more attention to the character and build some excitement for another Man of Steel movie

I’d prefer another Arkham game by Rocksteady personally but I’d check this out if it happens.

That's pretty cool. I guess the enemies in the game are going to be the good guys like Superman and Batman. I hope the lineup of Squad members we can use includes Bronze Tiger, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang and it doesn't become a Harley only game.
