I feel like I've done a lot but I've only collected 31 moons
So far the lake is my favorite level so far

I haven't seen Luigi, but after you beat Bowser (and maybe have collected enough moons) a Luigi costume for Mario is unlocked for purchase at the shop

They do a really helpful thing when you're going back for moons/purple coins. When you enter a room that you've already been to Cappy will say if their is still a moon or purple coin left. If their isn't anything for you to get he tells you that you've gotten everything in the room.

Is this after endgame? Maybe I need to start paying more attention to what he says.

I'm not sure. I didn't notice until after I beat the game but I also wasn't going back into rooms/pipes very often.

The world after the first Bowser fight has been the most frustrating one to me so far. A lot of enemies to avoid and that poisonous purple goo. For once I actually really liked the water world in a Mario game. They tend to be a pain but the one in this is pretty decent and kind of fun.

I love taking over the caterpillar guys on that world. There is a moon hidden away that I forgot to go back for there, that I'm pretty sure can only be reached with that guy.

As a counterpoint they do a really annoying thing when you're going back for moons. The glowing light on certain objects telling you there is a moon there stays there even if you've already gotten it. Some birds flying around in worlds glow to let you know if you hit them they will drop a moon. Even if you've already gotten their moon they will still glow which sucks when you can't remember which ones you did already.

I just passed 500 moons!

Yeeeessss. I'm still only in the desert world but I can see this being very annoying going forward.

The jump rope challenge in New Donk City is pretty irritating. I was able to get to thirty for the first moon but ugh getting to one hundred is going to be a bitch. My best so far is thirty-seven.

Yes, this annoyed me about the birds. I also didn't like it in certain other hidden objects that started glowing again.

I sort of wish the names of the moons were given out so you’d know what to look for. I’ve gotten quite a few but am missing a lot. I know the Talkatoo gives out some hints but still.

Can't you buy hints from the Toad at the beginning of every level? I haven't purchased any yet, but he does offer 50 coin hints.

I didn’t even look at all the things you can buy I guess.

Yes. He'll give you one hint each time. I did it once only. Still can't find the one he hinted at.

Just to help out the majority of moons in a level don't open up until postgame so no need to put too much focus in to searching for them before then.

Ok so I completed my post-game return to all the levels. I just kind of explored and went to all areas and got all the purple coins and moons that I saw without using the lists or hints and I'm at 615. I'm going to take a break and play some other games and then I'll go back and try to get some more but I doubt I would ever be able to get them all. Quite a few moons are hidden behind races and boss rushs which I hate to play. Not to mention I doubt I will ever beat the

Darker Side of the Moon
area which is too much for my platforming skills.

I just started playing last night and like it a lot so far. The one thing that is annoying is how much they push the motion controls with the joy cons. Since I'm either going to be using it in handheld mode or with a pro controller, it seems like some of the moves are a little more difficult to perform. But other than that, it's a fun Mario game.

I still can’t get that damn jump rope challenge to one hundred. The highest I’ve gotten is thirty-nine. It’s one of those things I’ll be fixated on until I complete it. Ugh.

I'm at almost 300 stars in, and I'm about to face Bowser in the final battle. I have exclusively used the Pro controller, and I haven't really felt handicapped by using it.

I’m not one that normally likes motion controls but I’ve honestly not had many problems with the times I’ve had to use them in this game. They feel well implemented and not forced on.

Beat Bowser last night. I enjoyed the fight, and I'm looking forward to the end-game. Looking at the star lists though, I don't think I'll be fully completing this game. Some of the stars look very tough. I'm going to have fun trying though.

Honestly, the largely recycled boss/miniboss battles were my biggest disappointments with the game, and I was surprised that even the final battle royale against Bowser was basically more of the same. The boss battle itself was completely anticlimactic. The aftermath was pretty awesome, though, especially
Spoiler:
platforming as 8-bit Bowser
. I'm enjoying the endgame stuff so far, but with as polished and wildly imaginative as so much of Odyssey is, the recycled boss stuff is a drag.
