Journey & The Last of Us come to mind. Couldn't get into either.

I haven't played 4, but 3 was my favorite. The first game was a shooting gallery. The second game felt like a walking simulator to tell you the story it wanted to tell. It was solid, but you had zero freedom to explore anything.

Three had the weakest story, but strongest gameplay balance, IMO.
