I've never seen any in stores, but if scalpers aren't getting profits they'll return them and we'll see a glut of them soon enough.

How much profit can the scalpers really get at this point?

Can you realistically move this on Ebay for $200-300? I don't think so.

I think swooping in and buying up inventory every time Target or Best Buy gets more in is going to be a waste of time and money losing venture at this point.

But, yeah in my area here in Southern California, I have never actually seen any in stores when I do walk into Target or Best Buy. But then again, I don't constantly visit them specifically looking for this.

They average for about $100-$120 tops here in Portland; modded ones are selling for $200+ though.

Hooked it up finally. My kids are playing it. My wife asks, "Did the games always look this bad?"

I guess it depends on the game. I've been playing through Super Mario All Stars and it looks fantastic.

The blockiness of the pixels isn't as noticeable when you're playing on a tube TV.

The size of the screen and distance from it is a factor too.

When I got my SNES Classic, I tried sitting as close to the TV as I used to on a 27" SD tube TV, but now on a 55" UHD OLED. Super Mario RPG was a just a mess of blocks. Sitting back on the couch via a controller extension cable made it much more playable.

75" Sony 900e. New TV. Anyway the kids were sitting close because of limited cord space. I know the 8BitDo controllers are pretty well regarded. Anyone try the Best Buy Insignia ones? $19.99 and the reviews on their site seem to be overwhelmingly positive.

75" TV LOL. Congrats. I imagine the pixels are indeed pretty darn huge on that thing.

I can vouch the 8bitdos are freaking fantastic - and I am one of the few who didn't think their original SNES pad was that great. I can't imagine anyone coming out with something anywhere near as good a match to OEM Nintendo quality as these controllers get. I see the positive reviews for the Insignias, but I would absolutely spend the extra $5/controller and wait the few days for them to arrive from Amazon.

I wasn't going to get this but a friend went to the Amazon store in L.A. and called me and pressured me into getting one. I never had a SNES (was in med school and too busy to game). Looking forward to trying some of those games I've heard about but never played.

Play it on a small OLED TV while your car is in auto-pilot.

Give a good picture of how much has changed in 28 years

It's been fun playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with my kids as guides. They're too little to truly be able to play it (although watching them go the wrong way in Super Mario Kart is hilarious), but they absolutely love "puzzle solving" and "helping" me get through labyrinths and the overland map. Been a great experience with them, and fun for me to replay the game after so long.

3 hours later, just checked and it’s sold out.

Glad I just happened to see the tweet from Cheap Ass Gamer announcing the Lightning Deal moments after it posted. It sold for $79.98 for those curious.

There's actually a setting on the system that lets you give the screen pan and scan lines, which I thought was pretty funny.

These things seem to be everywhere now. Kudos to Nintendo for actually coming through as promised. I'm wondering if they will start to roll the NES classic back out again soon. Gamestop is currently selling refurbished ones for $59.99.

They'll ride out the SNES demand until it starts to lull, then they'll shut down the SNES Classic production line and reconfigure it back to NES Classic.

I wonder how many scalpers are returning these in droves before the Xmas return policy goes away...
