Re: Assassin's Creed: Origins - 10/27/17
I posted this in "Odyssey Topic" instead of here.....
Question on hunting....or more specifically the animals.....I need I think "Hard Leather"...from Hippos and Gators yet I haven't seen a single one in this first area. The best so far are Mountain Lions and Hyenas.
So I assume I can only do so much in terms of leveling stuff/gear up before moving on to the other area.
Also, I've found one merchant i can actually talk to and see their store, The Weaver. The Blacksmith just has the icon but I can't get him to talk. And the Weaver only offers Special Outfits and I'm content with the Desert Cobra or whatever it's called I got from the Deluxe. I've had to move on from the weapons though, found some a bit better and stronger. Is it advisable to breakdown or sell the Gold Weapons?

I break down total crap weapons for parts. But I keep a lot of old weapons just for fun. There is no limit to how much you can have in your inventory.
Gators and Hippos will be readily availabe soon enough as the story progresses, but you can send your bird to recon the area and it will show you if any caravan is carrying stuff you might want to steal.
K&A J, if you want it, I will give you my code for a digital copy of the Prima Strategy eGuide. I bought a digital copy and later got the one cheap so I now have an extra code I have no need for. I found it very useful.

...I did run into three Bandits with the "Red Skulls" above their head. Sort of stange but they're at some Tomb for me to loot and they've been the only ones so far. I'm at Level 7 and yet to do that Assinate The Boss/Target that part of the main story...still like just going out and seeing and finding stuff but I'm having to go out further.
...also ran into some side quest I assume will be ongoing...out in the middle of the desert about his childhood and stars. I have to find 12 Star Circles or something like that all over Egypt....which I assume is in other areas.

^ I never found another one of those star things for the rest of the game!

I found all those star circles very early on in the game and I HIGHLY recommend doing it. Once completed you get a superb set of legendary armor that I believe regenerates health (not played it in a while, so can't quite recall the perk). It looks like something out of From Legacy.

I finally completed that 'Intro Area'....Siwa….I've had to toggle between this and Elder Scrolls Online that has a huge Double XP Halloween Event going on....
...I totally forgot about his wife. I had been wondering when am I going to look like the Assassin in all the pictures. I only got a brief taste & look of Alexandria last night before calling it...simply stunning. And I thought Siwa looked great....I've played a lot of Ubisoft games and all have been amazing visually. The latest being Far Cry 5 and Ghost Recon Wildlands. But they've outdone themselves capturing Ancient Egypt's culture, look, people, surrounding, attire....just awe struck.
I started down the Seer Path and just got the Sleeping Darts...yet to try. Saw the Hippos coming in and need of more of that leather. And of course....finally got the infamous Assassin Blade. I tried a Spear for the first time and actually like it....the final kill move is glorious....

I'm going to miss playing this game! I finished this game 100% yesterday including all of the DLC.
Yes, this game felt repetitive but I loved the exploration aspect along with the character of Bayek. My favourite Assassin's Creed with the exception of Part 2 so far.
I have yet to play Black Flag and Syndicate.

It's the most like Origins, only bigger and better.

I started Odyssey and I played one third of it I believe as I'm around where
so far. I don't know what it is, but it hasn't grabbed my attention and interest as much as Origins. I do have the season pass for Odyssey too so who knows, I might end up liking it as much or more.

This was a question (video game category actually) on Jeopardy! tonight (4.30.19). The ancient civilization in which this game takes place or something. I said Egypt. The real answer was Alexandria, which is in Egypt. I didn't get Destiny 2 moon (IO), they also had Far Cry and Mario as answers....

I wrapped up Origins last week... fantastic game. Before I jump into Odyssey, did any of you play the DLC for Origins and would you recommend it? The New Order pack looks intriguing.

I got the Season Pass and played all of the DLC at the time. I don't remember what the New Order pack has but I found the DLC to be just okay but nothing memorable. I don't think you are missing out if you don't play it.

The 2nd DLC I found much more interesting. It's far less rooted in reality, and has you traveling to fantastical settings, but it's nice change of scenery and a pretty good piece of DLC.

I think I'll move on to Odyssey... maybe after a break. Origins was enormous and I got a bit overwhelmed with trying to find all the Papyrus clues, etc. I need to check my completionism OCD going forward.

Well, shit. Just so you know, take all the content that Origins has, then multiply it by 3, and that's Odyssey.

OMG... Origins was overwhelming at times. I think I only completed around 45 side missions too.

Yeah, including all DLC (paid DLC and all the free missions they added over the course of the year after it's release), I was just shy of 200 hours in Odyssey. The game clicked for me a couple hours in, and it only ever got stale after about 150 hours...

I started playing this a couple weeks ago and I just made it to the chariot races part. I absolutely suck at the chariot races. I can't come in better than fifth. Are there any tricks to it? I'm keeping R2 held down and pushing X to boost, but my chariot is really, really slow.
