Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
Since the fifth generation of video game consoles (Sega Saturn, PlayStation and Nintendo 64), nearly all video game console controllers have had some type of rumble feature, usually built into the controller itself. Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?

Nah. It's distracting and drains battery life.

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I voted yes because I don't dislike rumble, but I don't think it really adds much either. I was chuckled at the idea it was supposed to make things feel more immersive, because my hands shaking doesn't make explosions or whatever in a game more life like. I like it more as a feedback cue that something is happening in game.

Yep, provides some good feedback.

I like it for driving games, but that's about it

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I've only played Resident Evil on PS1 using the "rumble" feature, didn't particularly care for it, it was mostly a distraction.

I like it. Tells something is happening or about to and basic interactive...

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
Yes for me.

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
No. First thing I do is turn it off.

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I look at it like one of those features where I could take it or leave it. If it went away I wouldn't miss it but if it stayed around that's fine too. If console makers ever started charging for it I definitely wouldn't upgrade (Kinect, etc.).

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I dig it. I missed it dearly when I got my launch PS3.
|
Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I disable it in multiplayer shooters. But I love it for the feedback in other games, epecially sports and racing games.
|
Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I voted yes, but it's not something I really miss if it's not there.
One side effect I like is the additional weight it adds to controllers, which to me makes them feel more substantial (or maybe I've just gotten used to it). The lightweight Sixaxis felt cheap because of the lack of rumble motors. |
Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I'm so accustomed to the rumble in games that I rarely even notice it, but I probably would if it wasn't there.

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
I could care less (yes, i know what I typed).... so yeah, I don't really care but it's fine in some applications. In general game play, I don't miss it if it's not there.

I can't stand the feature, I don't need that kind of feedback and worse yet it sometimes hurt my hands if it happens too much. Not to mention I usually get the game where it goes flipping crazy and the thing vibrates for 2 minutes in a vicious continuous loop where I have to put it down. No thanks. |
Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
For some games, it provides a useful feature. Other games, it's pointless. With how loosely I hold my controller, the vibration often rattles on my wedding band, causing a bunch of racket.

In 1997 I enjoyed it for about one hour. Since then it's just become annoying.

We are talking about a video game controller here, not toys you might find in the bedroom ;) |

Also, depends on the controller. https://www.theverge.com/2016/9/25/1...e-vibrator-ps2

Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
The number of games that have used rumble in a meaningful or useful way has to be infantesimal.
Only two come to mind for me, Ocarina of Time and Rez. So with that glaring percentage, I wouldn't miss it if it were gone. Hell I rarely notice it as is. |
Re: Overall, do you like the rumble feature in video game controllers?
The one game it worked and served me well was Diablo III RoS when you were about to get invaded by the Nemesis. You would get a very small rumble followed by a bigger one and you knew it was coming.

Absolutely love it and cant stand playing without it to be honest.
