Love this game - so far I have no problems with the story either. Wasn't expecting the world to be as fleshed out as it is as well - you really feel like you're in an actual town(s).
Very happy to see the driving has improved big time (been waiting for that) and that you can hop into any vehicle you see - long overdue.
Fun game so far.

Funny you mention the driving... I have an Xbox 1 Elite Controller and it STILL doesn't work when driving (which was a known bug of the original game). I have to use alternate driving controls which really messes with looking around and aiming, etc.

Rival are you playing FC5 or New Dawn? We are talking about both in this thread.

Wow, this game is like the fun version of red dead redemption 2. Always something to do and never gets stale. This game is beautiful to look at as well.
Can someone please confirm a couple of things for me (if possible, please just answer the questions as is with no additonal info...to save me from any spoilers):

You can tackle the order of the Lieutenants in any sequence. They direct you to go do John Seed's area first, which makes sense since it's the easiest one. But you can tackle them in any order you like. You can clean one out entirely or skip around. Doesn't matter. But you do get a cool reward for defeating each one so it probably makes sense to tackle them one at a time (as you get closer to being able to fight one, the attacks in their region become more aggressive). You can't get at Joseph until you have defeated all three (John, Faith, Jacob -- and that's the order I defeated them).

As someone who loved IV but didn't care for V will I like New Dawn? It's on sale at BB for $15.

If you didn't care for V, it's hard to imagine New Dawn will change your mind. It's more of the same... which is a good thing to me.

I don't know why I loved IV a lot but 5 just didn't work for me. More of THAT would be a welcome thing.

Surprised to see the dislike for 5, for me it's the best game this console generation.

Hmmm. Maybe? Probably not though. Doesn't advance the story at all. The first Vietnam one is pretty cool. Smaller but substantial map, permadeath It's pretty intense. The Mars one isn't great but is kinda funny. I didn't enjoy it and didn't finish it. It does give you some awesome weapons that make you super overpowered in the main game though. The Zombie one is just a few horde levels. Not much there at all. You would be much better off getting New Dawn for $20 instead.

With lines lines like "Punch it Chewy!!, ha, ya liked that didnt ya....ya fucking nerd" and "Those stashes at the top of the mountain have me worried, the only stashes I like are the kind you can sit on" what's not to love - that's just some of the hilarity from the ton of dialogue in the game.
A Grissly bear companion names cheeseburger that has diabeetus, never gets old.
I take back what I said about the driving, it still sucks, I only played a little previous to posting that.
I took out Jacob second because his dream sequences were super annoying. Can't wait to play new dawn as well.

Finished 5 - loved the "Resist" ending.
Started New Dawn - while I really like it, I'm not a big fan of having to craft everything. Also, so far it feels like they added a few elements from the Division which I don't care for.
So as for new dawn, I really like it but I'm not seeing how anyone can see it's better than 5 yet.

That said, it does have some significant gameplay improvements over 5. I really like the ability to scrap outposts, being able to make them individually harder and with better rewards. In FC5 and every other FC since FC2, the biggest issue is the game gets easier the longer you play. It's not like an RPG, in Far Cry games you get more powerful and the enemies don't keep up. After you beat the story in FC5 there's no reason to keep playing. Here between the outposts and excursions, you can increase the challenge (and the rewards) to keep playing longer and with more enjoyment. The crafting also seems like a PITA initially but as you play you will compile most everything you need without even looking for it. As you level up and unlock more exotic weapons, you might need special components which will require you to go on more excursions or hunt rarer animals. I liked that. In FC5, you can get all the resources you need by just fishing or hunting deer, which really lowers the challenge of resource management. Here you will need to hunt diverse animals and really look to get what you want. I found that aspect more rewarding.
Stick with it, I think you might like it more after the first few hours.

Cool, I'm definitely not into a challenge, I play games more for the story and to experience the blood, sweat, and tears the devs poured into making the environment come to life.
I'm just glad I didn't stick with my decision to pass on this installment of Far Cry.
