Ok, so two observations after playing yesterday...

1. I had over 8200 credits after claiming some rewards and playing MP 3 times.... well on my way to unlocking Vader
2. My 9 year old son, who knows absolutely nothing about this loot crate controversy, came to me last night and said "Dad, did you know that you can't get Vader or Luke? They're locked or something? That's dumb!"... I couldn't help but laugh and try to explain the controversy. He doesn't care, he wants to play as Luke, dammit!

Some of the loot crates include stats bonuses like 100% HP increases. EA also has a patent on pay-to-win matchmaking that matches paying players with players who don't have that advantage to encourage them to purchase more microtransactions.

Was checking my friends list to see where everyone was...had about 25 on...and it was sort of weird seeing....
One playing Star Wars
Two playing COD
None in Destiny 2
...and all the rest playing some games I haven't seen up in awhile and all over the place. First two days of SWB there were at least five in it, COD has usually had 3-5 per night, D2 around 2-4 per night. I've seen some in AC: Origins, a few in Fortnight, Diablo has been in the mix, and even Dying Light & Bloodborne

I played 3 matches last night... it wasn't fun. I can't explain it because despite all the bullshit over the release and loot crates, it's freaking Star Wars and Battlefield rolled into one. Should be crazy fun, right? I was bored and frustrated... I could barely move 10% of the map before getting pegged by someone off screen. I usually ended in the bottom 3 despite trying to actually play the missions and not running & gunning. Spawn is a mess... it shouldn't take 20 seconds to get into the action or near your teammates.

I'm going to give it a fair shake and confirm I'm not just the world's shittiest MP'er. I do enjoy the deathmatch modes more than space flying, but I need to give that a try too.... after I wrap up Shadow of War.

Edit: the devs should have just improved upon the first game. It was fun... it had some problems, but the playing field was level.

Just curious Rob but are you playing any COD and if so how is the MP compared to SWB? I've got some friends here at work who play COD MP and they've said the same thing about the spawn points, getting killed in no time after spawning but the fact several they've seen are already way, way up despite the game out for a short period of time.

Sad to hear about the MP aspect....and I'm not big or good in that area but figured with the sheer size and various types and choices one no matter how good or bad would stand a decent chance....like you said should be fun.

Not sure if this has been answered, or even brought up, but curious to know if this has offline play against Bots? I am actually a decent player with online FPS, however my net connection (especially now) is piss poor to say the least and it means i have zero chance of even connecting, let alone winning.

I am still considering getting this, although i found the first game underwhelming.

Didn't preorder at Amazon because they couldn't deliver until November 21. Today they can deliver on the 19th. I'm turned off by the while progression debacle and I have plenty of other things to do. I'm out. Maybe down the road.

Star Cards Breakdown
Star Cards are what Battlefront 2 multiplayer progression is all about. You need them to improve your abilities for classes, heroes, and ships. The catch is that you only earn "levels" for each class, hero, and ship, but collecting Star Cards for them, which allows you to equip more Star Cards, and so on and so forth. Here's our breakdown of Star Cards from opening 60 Loot Crates:

209 Total Star Cards from 60 Trooper Loot Crates

Common (White): 152 = 72.7%
Uncommon (Green): 35 = 16.7%
Rare (Blue): 3 = 1.4%
Cosmetics: 19 = 9.1%

The most obvious takeaway from these numbers is that three-quarters of the cards you get in a Trooper loot crate are going to be common. Uncommon cards are more infrequent, but it's rare quality cards that are woefully infrequent in crates. Only three of the cards out of all 209 we opened were rare, which is about 1 out of 20 loot crates, and considering rare cards aren't even the highest quality of cards, that's not enough.

I've only been playing the single-player campaign so far and haven't touched MP yet. I've finished the first three missions. So far, it's really good, with some excellent voice acting by the lead. The maps look great too.

My only technical issue so far is that the cinematics are quite stuttery. Gameplay itself is pretty smooth though. Anyone else having this issue?

I don't have the game yet but IGN mentioned the cinematics as well.

This is one reason why I really think EA sucks because they did such a great job with the production values and it seems like it could be a really great MP game they just broke it solely because of their greed.

I'm just going to play the campaign during the 10 hour EA Access trial. I'm on the second mission now.
No stuttering on the XBX as far as I could tell.
I don't think I will be keeping my pre-order. Buying enough other games anyway thanks to the Microsoft BF sale.
