I got 20% off for the pre-order so this game was delivered to me today. I won’t be able to play until next week though...

No feedback?? Guys, this game is fantastic. It's more of the same greatness and the controls were just like I remembered. I literally was hitting 'Y' to block as if I played a week ago.

I thought this was fucking hilarious!
Flogg the Moaner. I've killed this loser four times, shamed him, attempted to brand him and killed his blood brother but he keeps coming back with his god damn moaning.

I played a bit more this weekend... not a ton as Rainbow Six is my game of choice anymore. The game play is getting veeeery repetitive quickly. I discovered some side quests which give backstory but other than that, I'm a tad bored already; and that bums me out

I still want to check it out, but my interest was killed pretty quickly due to the loot boxes and the lower than expected review scores. I might check to see if the library is going to carry it.

I'm still going to finish the game... it's more goodness from the last game. I was hoping to not have to hack-n-slash so much. It'd be nice if the character could mow thru lower orcs fast and get to the checkpoints faster. It's a grind to get from Point A to point B.

I was planning on avoiding this game because I'd heard it was more of the same, and I don't have the warm fuzzies thinking about the first game. It was okay but it didn't blow me away.
Ended up picking this one up anyway and so far I'm really liking it. This game is kind of a mess, that'd for sure (menus, prompts, muddy graphics) but I've just hit the point where I can fluidly now through a group and it actually feels really good.
Shoulder charge into one guy and knock him down, throw a dagger into another and stun him, shoot another in the foot and freeze him there, beat the shit out of the guy on the ground to build might, jump up and shoot a charged shot into the ground for an AOE that knocks everyone back and sets them on fire. It's so so satisfying when everything clicks.
But I'm still 8ish hours into the game and have no idea how the nemesis system works or how to take over a stronghold. It'd be nice to have that explained already because I'm clearly seeing elements of it in the menu already but I have no idea what it is, and all it does is clutter and confuse the already messy menus.

I'm several hours in and still working my way through the city, taking out captains as I can and building skills. The combat system has come back to me pretty quickly, but I need to figure out some of the menu and quest systems.

Any idea how the "build your Orc army" works? I have unlocked a few characters and skills for those Orcs... but I don't understand how they come into play.
Played about 3 hours this weekend and I'm digging it more. It's a game I will finish for sure.

I think I was around level 20 before I started seriously recruiting my orcs, having them infiltrate warchiefs, and taking over my first stronghold.

I loved branding in the original game so am looking forward to it here.
I'm making progress on the quests and building up my character. I rode a graug into an outpost and did significant damage, though it eventually died despite eating many uruks along the way. Then when I went to collect all the leftover gems, I ended up getting overwhelmed and had to hightail it out of there.
I like how the Gondorian solders are actually useful instead of red shirts.

Guys - any idea how to advance the story in the game? It seems I'm stuck... I only get missions to kill Orc leaders and nothing to actually advance the story. I've spent hours just tooling around. I have found all the hidden items you unlock on top of the towers and I see I can play "Knife in the Dark" mission in Cirith Ungol -- however, I can't find Cirith Ungol and even if I highlight that mission, I don't see it on my map.
Do I need to kill every single Orc leader to advance?? I feel like my game is glitched.

I'm making good progress on my orc army, with only about five left that I could turn. I'll try to do them all before I go to war. And it turns out I killed one of the warchiefs by doing a mission, dominating his bodyguard, and having that guy kill him (I was hoping to turn him but don't know if that would've been possible).
I'm pretty sure you want to do that mission. Have you already moved on to Nurnen? I don't know how to get back to a previous region. I tried the same thing of yellow-selecting a mission on the quest menu, but I don't see how to get there. One forum I googled said fighting the war will unlock fast travel to other regions but I don't know how that works if you can't get to the war.

I didn't realize the only way to travel to another region was by going to the "full map" mode or whatever its called. Once I could see the topographical view of the world, I was able to fast travel to the right spot.

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of War (Mordor sequel; PS4 / XB1; 10/10/17)
I now have turned all available captains and cleared nearly every other task in the region so I guess I need to go to war now. Usually I ask the captain to stay and fight, but one got killed that way so I've made the last few flee to fight another day.
I don't know if I leveled up too much or if it's just an evolution of the storyline, but I can't seem to brand the regular uruks anymore. Their heads just explode.
Just took a graug ride battling and eating caragors and ologs--pretty great.
